Thar She Blows

This morning I was on a plane headed back to North Carolina before the sun even rose.  My older daughter is being hospitalized for additional medical tests this week so I am here to be with her.  I left behind our perfectly sunny weather at home and traded it in for Hurricane Matthew. When I was at the rental car counter, I let them know that I would be returning the car this weekend.  They responded, "No you won't. The airport will be closed by then."  They were quite adamant that the impending hurricane warnings were not to be taken lightly.  I was given a hurricane policy in case I can't return the car on time. With so much optimism at such an early hour, I headed to the warehouse club to pick up a few things for my daughter.  Well - I can tell you - I have never been to such a mad house before!  And I am a Black Friday shopping professional!  First, the lines for the gas pumps stretched around the store.  Every lane was full and the line of cars backed out to the road.  Next - there were so many people standing outside with propane tanks in hand.  The line to get propane was ridiculous.  Once I got inside the warehouse club, I had to stand in line just to get bottled water.  I am not kidding you when I say every person shopping in the store had a cart full of bottled water and a case of toilet paper.  I saw so many carts with water and toilet paper, I figured toilet paper must be an odd hurricane necessity so I put toilet paper in my cart as well.  I mean I don't want to be the only one in North Carolina without toilet paper!!! After standing in line for an eternity to pay for water and toilet paper, I did arrive safely at my daughter's house. Now we wait.  The storm evidently is coming!  Thar She Blows!
