Hay Day!

Yesterday we were finally able to get our first cutting of hay in! Mother Nature has made it quite difficult to get the hay done as we needed consecutive days in a row with no rain. However, yesterday couldn't have been a better day to cut hay.
The weather was sooo nice.

The fresh cut hay made for a peaceful view and great picture.

Scooter was excited because he was finally tall enough to walk through the field.

After the hay was all cut Austin and I went out into the field to look for golf balls. The very edge of our property sits near a golf course and sometimes the golfers lose their golf balls in our hay field. It's fun to see the different designs on the golf balls and it's always a contest to see who can find the most (I won this time). With the nice weather ahead of us, we should have our hay baled in no time!

Matching Best Friend Collars

While Austin and I were at the Super Zoo we got new collars for the doggies. It's always fun to browse through the new patterns. However, we went down one aisle that had nothing but cat things and we passed a booth with a bunch of cat collars and we immediately thought about our kitty, Cricket. We saw one collar in particular that was very similar to Olive's new collar. Olive and Cricket are the best of friends, so of course they needed matching collars!
Here is Cricket's new collar complete with a little bell.
And Olive's new collar is the American flags.

Our collar choices got raving reviews as they both love them very much. Good thing, too because they look absolutely adorable with them on!

Around the World in 3 Days

Before this summer I had never had the opportunity to travel. I have always wanted to because I loved the idea of seeing other places and cultures. So, this summer when I had to opportunity to go to Vegas for the Super Zoo I was ecstatic. I was even excited for the plane ride.
We had the most beautiful plane ride on the way to Vegas.
We flew over the Colorado Rocky Mountains and had a breathtaking view.
Even though we were only in Colorado for a few minutes before our next flight, I loved every second of it.
When the Super Zoo closed, we were able to do some sight seeing.
I got to go to Paris!!..... Nevada.
And I saw the Eiffel Tower!
Just a hop, skip, and a jump from that was New York City......Nevada.
Where we saw The Statue of Liberty!
And The Licorice Statue of Liberty!
And the Jelly Bean Statue of Liberty!
And let's not forget the Hershey Chocolate Statue of Liberty!
Until next time!

Ball Cap Weather

Our big grooming day not only applied to our doodles, but our horses as well. They love to be groomed. They love it so much that when you stop brushing their backs, they follow you around until you start again. They really are like big dogs,  they just adore the attention.
Shortly after we were done brushing them, I was getting ready to head back in when I turned around and saw Austin putting his ball cap on the horse. I thought to myself, "No way she will stand still long enough for him to take a picture." And then she did, proving me wrong. The bright sun made for perfect ball cap wearing weather, and since horses can't wear sunglasses, a hat is obviously the next best thing. Stay cool horses!

Doodle Cuteness

Juneau's puppies have been doing so well this week! Juneau is a great mommy to her beautiful double doodles. Their eyes have just begun to open up. They are all super sweet and so lovable.
These are the four adorable girls. They've mastered picture taking already!

And these are the 5 precious boys.

They're already the best snuggle buddies, just like Mommy.

We are all so excited to watch these doodles grow. They are all too cute!! Keep checking every week for updated pictures of these love bugs!

Happy Puppy Picture Monday!

Grooming Day!

We brush and groom our doggies quite frequently and today was the big grooming day. Everything from brushing to trimming, to cutting nails. And it just so happened that we got some new doggie brushes at the Super Zoo for our hairy friends. They work GREAT and the dogs loved them, too!
We enjoyed grooming them and the doggies were happy to get a free back scratch.
It was also interesting to watch all the different groomers at the Super Zoo grooming show. Even though our doggies don't look like this when we groom them, we still had a lot of fun seeing all of the different hair-do's on everyone else's doggies.

Two Paws Up

One of our favorite things to do here at Yesteryear Acres is take the doggies on long walks outside. The dogs enjoy it and are always looking forward to it. When Austin and I were at the Super Zoo, one of our missions was to find something that would keep the doggies cool on the hot summer days when we took them on walks outside. Lucky for us, we found just that.
We found "The Chill Collar". You fill it up with water and then freeze it and the next day, voila, you have a collar to keep your doggie cool. Once all of the ice melts, the dog can even drink that water from the BPA free collar!
Olive was first to test it out today.
She sat there as if to tell us that she could sit in the sun all day because she was so cool!
She definitely approved with two paws up!!

Super Zoo Success

Hello everyone, Bri here. Today Austin and I returned home from the Super Zoo convention in Las Vegas. To say we had fun is an understatement. We both had a great time looking around at all the new toys and supplies for our doodles. It was also fun to look at the cool new inventions designed for pets of all kinds. The minute we got home and walked in the door, we were greeted by many tail wagging doodles. I don't know if they were so excited because they missed us, or if it were because our suitcases squeaked with every move. Either way, we were just as excited to see them. We didn't even make it all the way through the door before we started getting out the new doodle supplies. Even our doodle puppies approved of the puppy care package supplies. There was so much to see and so much to do while we were there that there is no way I could fit it all in one blog, so stay tuned the next couple of days to hear more about our time at the Super Zoo!

Breakfast in Texas

Mr. Yesteryear Acres and I were unable to make it to the Super Zoo Convention in Las Vegas this week.  We try to go every year so we can find all the best things for our Doodle Doggies and Doodle Puppies.  We love going and checking out all the newest dog supplies and ordering new items for our puppy care packages.  We had to make a choice to either go to the Super Zoo or meet our daughter coming back from deployment. Well that was certainly the easiest decision ever!  Obviously our daughter won! Then I realized just how many things we needed to order for our puppy packages and how low we were on Doodle Doggie supplies.  We desperately needed a trip to the Super Zoo! Sooooooo - guess who is in Las Vegas at the Super Zoo?  My son and Bri!  They arrived safely and have been having a great time ordering new things for Yesteryear Acres.  Because the decision to send them was so last minute, I was unable to get a non-stop flight.  They had a layover on the way to Las Vegas and they will be taking the red-eye home from Vegas with a layover in Texas. When I told them I was sorry about the long flights, Bri broke out in the biggest smile ever.  She said, "You mean I get to have breakfast in Texas!!!!????!!!" She was so excited - she gets to cross the states of Nevada, Colorado AND Texas off her list of places to see! Before this summer, Bri has never been on a plane and has never been west of Ohio. Looks like I ended up finding the best flights possible.  Have a great breakfast in Texas and we can't wait to see all the doggie presents you are bringing home!!!!!!

Welcome Home!

Late last week, Mr. Yesteryear Acres and I got word that our older daughter was returning from her deployment.  She has been gone since early December and we could not wait to welcome her back home.  We arrived at Camp Lejeune bright and early and then waited for the busses to arrive.  Families were gathered around with signs and balloons and American Flags and with each update, the excitement increased.  As soon as we got the word that they were 10 minutes out - everyone got to their feet.  Care packages with tissues, mints and chapstick were passed out to every family member.  No one could stand still and there was a mixture of pure anxiousness, happiness and excitement in the air.  Finally the busses started to arrive and one-by-one the Marines found their loving families.  I spotted my daughter right away and Mr. Yesteryear Acres gave her his famous whistle call and she came running to us.  She jumped up and got the biggest bear hug from her dad. As soon as I saw her - I was glad for the tissues!  Not only was it emotional welcoming back my daughter, but seeing all the husbands hugging wives and sons hugging fathers and daughters hugging daddies and new babies meeting their dads for the first time, there was not a dry eye anywhere.
Welcome home 1st Lt
HOW WE MISSED YOU!!!!!

Just Like Daddy

Juneau's Double Doodle Puppies are here! We have 9 new babies to love. Oh my gosh. I have never had a litter favor one parent so strongly as we do with Juneau's litter.  Our white golden McGyver is the dad and 8 of the 9 puppies, look JUST like him!
Here are the 4 girls

Just Like Daddy
and the 5 boys

Looks like Juneau wanted ONE puppy that looked like her!
It will be so much fun to watch these Double Doodle Puppies grow.
So much cuteness!!!!

Last Puppy Pictures for Grits!

Grits's puppies are almost ready for their new homes! They are so excited. They all love playing outside and are the biggest love bugs.
As soon as we open the door for recess time, they run out to play.
"Wait for me!"
"Ahhhh.. It's cool in the shade."
Ready.... Set......
Stay!
They have the most adorable faces.
And make good lawn mowers from time to time.
Happy Puppy Picture Monday!

Baby Bird Sighting Part 2

Since Mr. and Mrs. Yesteryear Acres are visiting with their oldest daughter, I volunteered to write the blog today, and I just so happen to have something exciting to share. Today while Austin and I were outside working, he pulled me off into the grass and told me he had something to show me. As always, I was excited because he is always calling for me to come see something new. Most of the time being an animal. Well, today was no different. I walked over closer to him and this is what I saw.....
Two beautiful baby robins.
I'm sure you can guess what came next..
"Austin... can we keep them?? Please please please?"
And I'm sure you can guess the answer...
"No, Bri."
Last time I found a baby bird, I made the mommy quite upset, so this time I was sure to keep my distance. Soon after Austin and I walked away from the baby birds, the mommy bird came back to them with some food and fed them.
Baby bird sighting part 2 was a success.

Puppy Visits Full of Love

Early this morning Mr. and Mrs. Yesteryear Acres left for a very special trip. They went to visit their oldest daughter who returned home from deployment. They were so excited to go see her, and I have to say all of us were happy to know she was back home safely. Back at Yesteryear Acres however, we had many families wanting to visit their precious puppies, so Austin and I were happy to host puppy visit day. Grits's puppies will be ready for their new homes next weekend which means all of the families wanted to meet their doodle love bugs. The whole day was a success. All of the puppies loved playing with the families and when they were done playing, they had no problem snuggling up on someone's lap. In fact, snuggling is one of their favorite things to do (outside of having their bellies rubbed, you just can't beat that). I am very excited to see how much the puppies grow this next week before they go home, but I also can't wait for all the pictures of them in their new homes. I have a feeling they are going to love it just as much as the new families do. Until then, I am going to go tell all the doodle puppies goodnight and get one more snuggle session in before bedtime.... Okay maybe two...

Horseback Sunset Safari

This evening Austin and I went horseback riding and Renee asked if I would share our night with everyone. Of course, I couldn't say no! We had a blast. We went riding through fields as far as the eye could see during the sunset. Although it was a little cloudy, the weather held up just for us. As the sun set, it cooled off outside and made for perfect riding weather.
This was right before we saddled up! As you can see... I was so excited.
Austin rode Sunny
While I rode Pumpkin. We were told that these two horses were inseparable so we rode side by side the whole time.
We were smiling from ear to ear the whole time.
And even though it was a little cloudy, we were still able to see the sunset while we were riding! I'd say it was a pretty successful evening.
Thank you for a great night Austin!!!

Picture Perfect

Hey everyone, Bri here again! Today was such a beautiful day that I couldn't resist in asking Renee if I could be the guest blogger. We have had countless days in a row of nothing but rain, so the sunshine we got today was heavenly. So heavenly in fact, that I was able to catch a few pictures of other creatures enjoying the sun's rays as well.
First up was this beautiful butterfly
Basking in the sunshine and posing perfectly just for me.
Then we fed the fish. All the ripples in the pond are the fish swimming to us to be fed, I was so happy to get this picture.
Clear water, clear skies, and perfect weather.
