I Want to be the Star!

Maverick let me know today that he has been feeling a little left out of the blog posts. I of course apologized to my dearest doodle. I informed Maverick that he usually isn't the star of the blog ONLY because every time I pull out my phone to take his picture, he looks away or moves away.... So much so that I have actually seen Maverick try and cover his face to hide from the paparazzi that is me...
Exhibit A
Maverick said he was ready to try again and really just wanted to go outside just the two of us. He was really feeling himself and loving all the sun soaked grass. No matter how long we are outside, Maverick LOVES to bathe in the sunshine!
"Cheese!"
"Wait I need to scratch my back in the grass!"
"A little more to the right"
"Ahh. PAWfect!"
"See mom!? Aren't I adorable?"
"Especially when I do this right!?"
"I think every blog should be about me!"
"I am 61 pounds of happy curly doodle!"
"And I love my mom the mostest in the whole wide world!"
Sometimes all you need is some one-on-one time with your mom, and all is right with the world.

I love you so much my silly Professor Maverick Doodle! You are always a star to me!

Always,

Amelia

The Growing Tails of Ernie McDoodle: My First Ride

Today I got to do the thing I have been DYING to do since the weather turned warm... Paddle Boarding!!
"Mom?! What are you doing?"
I'm paddle boarding silly doodles! Come out and play!
"Paddle boarding is my favorite summer activity!"
"Come on guys! Wait for me! I want to try!"
Alright Ernie McDoodle! You're up! First we must balance...
Good Boy!!! You are going to be a natural!
"Uh Mom... I KNOW you did NOT just leave without me"
"Don't worry, I'll just hop right on all by myself! For I am Professor Maverick!"
Just a very happy girl and her doodle doggies
Trying not to fall in...
Wohoo!!! We are doing it!!!
Okay Hickory! Your turn!
I hope you are nice and relaxed as you enjoy your ride on the Yesteryear Acres Pond...
Please keep all paws and toys on the vehicle at all times
"Hickory, come on! It's our turn again!"
Summertime Fun,
Was had by all!

Huge Shout out goes to Mr. Yesteryear Acres who got the paddle board ready for me and documented Ernie's first paddle board ride and the rest of our water outing! Dad you are always our hero!!

I can't wait for more water adventures!!

A Very Yesteryear Acres Summer Day

Even with the rising scorching temperatures, there is always something cool to see or do here at Yesteryear Acres.
Such as big beautiful butterflies flying by to remind us to stop and smell the flowers
Brand new summertime watermelon bandanas
To show everyone how cute you are
"Cute enough for a treat right?"
And I would be remiss if I left out everyone's favorite activity...
Water Fetch! Look at Hickory leap!
"I got the frisbee!"
"Last one in is a rotten egg!"
Good Boy Maverick!!
But the coolest part of the day was our first garden sandwich of the season!
Sorry Ernie! Human doodles only!

What a lovely *cool* summer day!

Always,

Amelia

Wild Blackberry Adventure: Expectations VS Reality

Late yesterday evening, the rain stopped long enough for me to sneak out and pick some wild blackberries growing in the woods at Yesteryear Acres. I set out with my colander with wonderful wilderness expectations of wandering through the woods picking all the beautiful ripe berries I could find with my lovely doodle lads in tow. Now my adventure definitely started out quite wonderfully...
Look Ernie! Blackberries!
Mom! I think I found some! They sure smell delicious
Umm Mom? I don't think that's enough to make anything yet...

Slowly my expectations for my blackberry evening was shattered with reality... When for the millionth time I was STABBED almost to death by the blackberry bushes. Then when a branch of thorns was all tangled in my hair and I got stuck and pretty much left for dead as Maverick and Ernie took off on their own "doodles only" adventure without me. And the last nail in my coffin- getting eaten ALIVE by all the mosquitos that I am pretty sure exist in the whole wide world....
Uhmm!? This is NOT what I expected! - Not pictured: The welts I left all over myself from smacking the bugs off me and one very watery eye that happened right after this photo when I swung my hair so violently that my braid slapped me in the eyeball....
LUCKILY my wild blackberry adventure was not had in vain!
I came back (barely alive, but still...) with 3 cups of perfect blackberries
Which was exactly what I needed for a Blackberry Shortbread!
Mr. Yesteryear Acres LOVES fresh fruit desserts
Ready for the oven!
Thankfully Mr. Yesteryear Acres expectations of dessert were not only met, but exceeded!
Overall my very nature filled adventure was indeed worth every second of torture.

For my next picking attempt, I shall wear a hat and bug spray! Come on nature! I am ready for round two! (We may need another Blackberry Shortbread dessert already...Oops :P )

Always,

Amelia
