One Extra Second

Today, on this very last day of June, we are being given one extra second of time.  One whole second!!!! I thought about how I would spend my extra second.  I actually spent many seconds thinking of how to spend my one extra second. In fact, by the time I figured out how to spend my extra second of time, I am fairly certain I used up an inordinate amount of seconds.  It is hard to try and calculate how much love you can squeeze into one whole second! Of course I wanted to spend my extra second loving all my Yesteryear Acres Doodle puppies, Doodle Doggies, and Doodle Cats and Doodle Horses and Doodle Family!  Any given extra second or minute or day or week - I will always choose to spend it with my family doing what I love.  Living and loving life here at Yesteryear Acres.  It is my everything.  I hope that your extra second is also well spent.  Happy Last Day of June!

Love to Snuggle

Grits is just the best mommy doggie.  She is taking great care of her 10 beautiful Double Doodle babies and they are just little butterballs of love.
Three of the boys
All 5 boys
Such loves!
They have the softest coats
And love to snuggle
and it won't be long before
They will start playing outside
But for now....Mommy Grits is best
So they will just keep snuggling and keep growing bigger each day
Happy Monday!

Can You Come Back Later?

Mr. Yesteryear Acres and I had a ton of work to get done today.  Our list was several pages long so there was no time to be wasted.  When it came time to clean out the Puppy Mobile and wash down the mobile puppy play yard.........where was Mr. Yesteryear Acres?
Mr. Yesteryear Acres?  Aren't we supposed to be cleaning the SUV?

"Ummmm......Can you come back later?"

"You need him now?!!??"

"But but but...we are snuggling!"

"What do you mean you have to go?"

"Just hide in the grass....she will never find us!"

"Okay....go clean the SUV.  Here's one last goodbye kiss. Good luck!"

Safely Back Home

Mr. Yesteryear Acres and I were both up before the sun loading the puppy mobile with our adorable furry bundles of happiness. Today was our big "puppy Day" and our little doodle puppies started their adventures to their new homes.
Mr. Yesteryear Acres hit the road quite early and the weather was far from cooperative.  It was pouring when he left and the torrential rain followed him all the way to Maryland and back home again. I was a little worried about Mr. Yesteryear Acres as we didn't get much sleep last night.  Our electric kept going off and on during the night and we were worried about getting the generator going and getting on the road in time to meet our new puppy families. Thankfully the power came back on in the nick of time and despite the horrible rain, Mr. Yesteryear Acres made it to Maryland right on schedule.  While Mr. Yesteryear Acres brought smiles to Maryland, I had my own happy families picking up their new bundles of puppy love right here.  The rainy day didn't stop the puppy smiles from happening and all our puppies are safely in their new homes.  Mr. Yesteryear Acres made it back home safely too! A long day ....but one full of puppy love and smiles!

Thanks Bri!

I have so enjoyed reading Bri's guest blog entries this past week!  It is awesome to get her perspective on life here at Yesteryear Acres.  My favorite thing about Bri is her unconditional love of our doodle doggies and puppies. She loves our doggies with her whole heart and our doggies love her that much right back.  When Bri helps out around Yesteryear Acres, she doesn't do the work out of the normal responsibility of having a job, she does it out of pure love. Bri never just checks things off of a list, she checks and double checks and if a doggie needs something, you can bet Bri is right there to make sure everything is taken care of properly. Bri takes care of the doggies and puppies because she loves them, not because she has to.....and that makes all the difference in the world. I loved Bri's blogs so much that I think she should fill in as guest blogger a few more times this summer!  Maybe I will make every Wednesday, "Bri Day".  Bri loved writing the blog and I loved reading it!  Thanks Bri!

The Simple Joys in Life

Going on walks and interacting with the beauties of nature is easily one of my most favorite things to do. My heart floods with joy and happiness at the thought of birds chirping or watching the wind blow ripples that resemble an ocean through a hay field. I am so lucky to be surrounded by wonderful people at Yesteryear Acres who appreciate and love nature as much as I do. Tonight Austin came inside requesting that we all go outside because he had something to show us.
What we saw was the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen.
Immediately, I wanted to run back to the pond so I could see the reflection in the water as the sun set behind the trees.
Olive was happy to tag along as well.
What a perfect ending to a wonderful day.

Good Luck Doodles!

Our precious puppies are all going to their new homes this weekend! We are super excited for all of the new families. I wanted to take a few last pictures of the adorable doodles before they leave this weekend, so we had an extra long recess today!
I told all the puppies I wanted a big hug before they left...
What they heard was, "Give Austin a big hug before you leave."
It wasn't long before they were playing fetch.
Pretty soon all of the puppies caught on and were finding their own sticks.
And shortly after that, the puppies said it was nap time.
I bet they sleep well tonight!
Good luck at your new homes puppies!
Yesteryear Acres will miss you!!

Doodle Date Night?

Last night Mr. and Mrs. Yesteryear Acres told Austin and I that we could go on a REAL date, and not the warehouse club shopping kind! We rattled our brains thinking of something we would like to go do. We both love being outside, so we decided we wanted to have a nice campfire by the pond with some of our furry doodle friends.
Austin was the chef for the night.....

While I spent some time with my favorite guy in the whole wide world.. Biscuit.

You just can't resist a face that adorable.

Okay... Austin is pretty great, too.

He DID make the best and most delicious dinner ever.
Barbecue chicken and baked beans cooked over the campfire.
Mmmmmm.

We had the best time and the weather was absolutely perfect.
The sunset couldn't have been prettier.
Thanks Mr. and Mrs. Yesteryear Acres!!

Puppy Kisses for Everyone

When I am away at school, my favorite day is always Puppy Picture  Monday. Even though that seems a little backwards for a student, I always look forward to seeing how much the puppies grow each week.
Truffles puppies are getting good at playing hide and seek.
"If we hide behind this tree, they'll never find us!"
But, they never stay hidden for long.
"Yay! Austin found us!"
"Austin, I found him, too!"
"That was so much fun!"
Sweet Pea's beautiful puppies are great listeners
And always come when they are called.
These soft and cuddly teddy bears give the best hugs.
That is, until they hear it's time for dinner...
"Did someone say dinner time!?"
"I'm coming, I'm coming!!"
Grits has been the best mommy to her adorable puppies.
These are the 5 boys.
They just started opening their eyes this week!
And these are the 5 girls.
Puppy Kisses for everyone.

Happy Puppy Picture Monday!

Baby Bird Spotting

It's no secret that I absolutely love any kind of animal. Especially any kind of baby animal. Whenever I see one my first and only thought is, "I want one." Usually, I am told that I can't have it for reasons like, "They will eat you." or "It is meant to be a wild animal." Today, however, was much different. Austin and I were outside doing some yard work when we heard a bird cry from one of the bushes near us. At first, we couldn't figure out where it was coming from, but as we got closer it became more clear just how far the brave birdie had ventured from its nest.
This baby birdie had fallen from its nest in a tree and found its way to a nearby bush at Yesteryear Acres. The baby bird was a little frightened when it saw us and hopped its way into the driveway where I was able to snap this picture. Of course, my first question was, "Austin! Can we please please please keep it??" You can guess his answer... "No, Bri." Just as he said no, as if it were planned, the mommy bird started calling for her baby and the baby bird started crying back. The call of a mommy bird to her baby was all the more answer I needed. I am sorry mommy bird for wanting to keep your baby. I promise he is back safe in the bush where we found him for you to take care of.

Tail Wagging Puppy Visits

Mr. and Mrs. Yesteryear Acres were out of town for part of the day so Austin and I were in charge of puppy visits. Ever since I started working here, my favorite job has been playing with the puppies. How could you not love a job where puppies were involved? I mean, they are always happy to see you, they always want to be pet, and they always give the best puppy kisses. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to keep them all, which makes it hard to say goodbye when they go to their new homes. I am always sad to see the cute little bundles of joy leave. However, puppy visit day gave me a whole new perspective. As the families came in and were able to hold their new puppy, it was a great feeling to see their faces light up with happiness. All of the puppies loved it, too! I think they had as much fun with the new families as I did. Even though saying goodbye is so hard, it is worth it knowing that the puppy went to a good home full of love. I am so lucky to be a part of a business like Yesteryear Acres. It is one of the most rewarding feelings knowing you are able to bring someone love, happiness, and tail wagging devotion. I will keep this in mind when all of the puppies leave for their new homes next weekend and will continue to look forward to everyone sending in pictures of their doodles growing up.

Helping Paws

I love being at Yesteryear Acres for many reasons. I would have to say one of the biggest reasons being all the tail wagging doodles that are always happy to see you. They never have bad days and are always willing to help you out no matter what the project is. Need help fixing the tractor? You can be sure you'll have a doodle sitting beside you "supervising".  Need help in the garden? You'll always have a doodle to help pull out the weeds. Need help picking up sticks in the yard? Doodles are perfect for this! Just yell fetch! You'll have your yard clean in record time. Today was one of those days where I was thankful to have a doodle's help. I was folding some laundry and I had my faithful companion, Scooter, with me. He always keeps me company. (In fact, as I write this right now, he is siting on my lap.) As I was folding laundry, Scooter jumped up on the couch and had no problem lending me a hand, well paw, to help my folding laundry job go by faster. With him there we would be done in no time!!
That is until...he thought that my folded towels were actually a bed for him to lay on... So maybe it took just a little bit longer to get all the towels folded.. Maybe I had to refold a couple because they had been messed up.. And maybe.. just maybe.. I had to pick a few up from the ground. But there's no doubt that I was so happy to have help from Scooter. And even though it took longer, I couldn't resist the look in his eyes that said to me, "Thanks for the awesome bed, Bri!"
You're welcome Scooter, thanks for being the best laundry helper ever.

Now That's a Date

Today Mr. and Mrs. Yesteryear Acres were so kind as to let Austin and I go on a very special date. On this special occasion, they even insisted we borrow their SUV and they planned the whole day out for us! As you can imagine we were very excited! Overjoyed, Austin and I hit the road. Before we knew it we arrived and even got a parking spot in the shade. With uncontrollable grins on our faces, we each grabbed our very own shopping carts. As unbelievable as it may seem, we were lucky enough to go warehouse shopping for our very special date! We spent some time strolling up and down the aisles, crossing things off the list. Milk..check. Bread..check. Dog food..check. Going above and beyond our duties, we even got some ice cream! Before we knew it, our special date was coming to an end as we headed home. Look out warehouse clubs, your crazy dates are no longer reserved for just Mr. and Mrs. Yesteryear Acres! You can bet the next "very special date" will be determined by a nice game of rock, paper, scissors. Let the games begin!

Thinking Inside the Box

This morning at Yesteryear Acres, we were stuck inside due to a torrential downpour. Austin and I were thinking of all the things we could do to be productive. Of course, our every day normal work came first. Such as feeding all the doodle doggies and puppies, cleaning up the resulting doggie and puppy poop, and making sure everyone had fresh water to drink. I even had time to water the garden! (Thanks Mother Nature) But, after all of that was done, we sat down to have a little fun with our new kitty, Cricket. She's a rambunctious kitten and is always finding something new to get into. We decided we were going to make her a kitty fort that she could run around and play in as her heart desired.
Who knew that one cardboard box could keep a kitten entertained so well.
Soon after, Olive and Cricket started playing Telephone.
"Thanks Olive, that sure was fun!"
What started as one fort, quickly expanded into an elaborate maze entertaining doodle doggies and kitties alike.
After hours of endless play, Cricket and Blossom were both worn out.
As she snuggled up next to Blossom, we all agreed that Cricket fits in perfect here at Yesteryear Acres.
