My Umbrella

Mr. Yesteryear Acres and I got caught in a storm this afternoon and took shelter inside our utility vehicle and waited for it to pass.  The rain poured all around us and Mr. Yesteryear Acres enjoyed just sitting with me waiting for the skies to clear.  He is like that.  No matter what life throws at us, I can count on him to be right by my side, enjoying what we have, and waiting for the skies to clear.  He never complains, he never fears the worst and he never gives up.  He is my umbrella in a storm and a constant giver of rainbows and hope and happiness.  Thanks Mr. Yesteryear Acres
You always make me feel loved and safe
even in the stormiest of days.

Doodle Loving Geese

I think we must have the bravest geese ever to be found. To say we have many deterrents against a peaceful place to raise a brood of goslings would be an understatement. While we don't specifically set out to disturb the geese, life here is very active and our four-legged family members love the outdoors. On any given day, this is the Doodle Happiness that can be found around our pond
Our Doodle Doggies love to run around the pond and happily play fetch and go swimming and splash around with complete and utter disregard for any waterfowl friends.
Still....the geese remain.
Our horses love to run through the field and are often found galloping through the beloved treasured nesting spot. If you look closely you will see
still the geese remain

Our farm cat Dottie takes it as her sole duty to patrol the perimeter of Yesteryear Acres keeping it safe from any would-be intruders and yet
still the geese remain

Here are two of our waterfowl friends this morning, happily taking a quick dip in the pond before they go back to nest sitting.  There are three very large eggs just waiting to hatch so they can join the flock.  It looks like there may be another nest or two out in the horse pasture.  We have many geese friends.
Welcome to Yesteryear Acres.....home of the Doodle Loving Geese

Smello

It happened.  I saw the whole disaster unfold in front of me in slow motion as I yelled, "Nooooooooooooooooo!" I could not stop it from happening.  I dropped my phone.  Surely you are thinking, "that is not a disaster!" BUT what you are missing at this point in the story is WHERE I dropped my phone.  I dropped my phone in a big bucket of......dog poop.  Not even cute puppy poop but giant blobs of fresh wet Mommy Dog poop. And my phone didn't just rest on the tippy top of the bucket of dog poop.  Noooooo. It sunk.  I saw just the little pink case sticking out and the rest of the phone was submerged in wet stinky poop. Of course as I was retrieving my poor phone, it started ringing.  "Smello?" How about no! I couldn't answer my phone.  I could barely touch my phone.  All I could do was hold the very tiny corner that was still pink while listening to Mr. Yesteryear Acres laugh and laugh and laugh.  My case is now soaking in gallons of disinfectant.  I am relegated to an entire day of the worst poop phone jokes you can imagine.  Mr. Yesteryear Acres is having a field day with his poopy phone rhetoric.  I have heard everything to the above mentioned "Smello" to "Have you changed your ringtone to fart sounds yet?"  You are welcome Mr.  Yesteryear Acres.  I am very happy my stinky poopy phone brings you such joy. Just remember when you fall asleep tonight on the couch, you might just awake to find a new snazzy "pink" case on your phone while mine magically has a new sleek black case replacement!  "Smello!!!!!!!!"

Hi Easter Bunny!

Mr. Yesteryear Acres came into the house exclaiming, "The Easter Bunny is Here!"  Bri ran out the door as fast as she could to see if she could get a picture of our new bunny friend.  Step-by-step, ever so slowly, she kept walking closer and closer.  Her eyes were wide with excitement and joy as she said, "There it is!" Here is her picture
See the adorable bunny?
Bri was so excited we had a bunny visiting us.
She slowly walked closer to the bunny to get a better picture
Awwww.  What an adorable.........

HEY THAT IS NOT REAL!
Mr. Yesteryear Acres was of course doubled over laughing.  Poor Bri.  She really thought we had a new pet bunny.  Don't worry Bri....last weekend Mr. Yesteryear Acres fooled the puppies too.
"Hey Little Puppies....Wanna meet our new bunny friend?"

"What does it taste like?"
"Maybe it is a Chocolate Bunny!"

"Let's try the ears first"

"Ummmmmmm"
"HEY THAT IS NOT REAL!"
That Mr. Yesteryear Acres!
Even though we didn't have an actual bunny visit us on Easter, we did have a day full of Easter blessings and family and love.  And maybe a little Easter Candy too. Hope your Sunday was filled with the same. Happy Easter!

Send in Reinforcements!

Day Four of Self-Imposed Exile.  Tax paperwork piled to the ceiling.  Receipts towering all around me.  Highlighter pens, stacks of sticky notes, envelopes, paper clips, documents all closing in on me.  HELP!  I felt my resolve slowly slipping away.  I felt myself leaning towards the edge of running outside and never returning.  That is when the reinforcements arrived.  THANK GOODNESS!
My daughter arrived just in time to bake the nutritional fortitude I required to stay on task
Milk Chocolate Florentine Cookies!

Heavenly morsels of yumminess!
"This will keep your tax work going smoothly!"
She was so right.
Then tonight -
Bri knew the very thing to get me to leave my desk and come out of exile
Homemade Fettuccini Noodles!
Her dinner was so delicious, it brought tears to my eyes
and for one last reinforcement -
Mr. Yesteryear Acres gave me flowers to show me all my hard work is appreciated
With all this love, how can I not succeed!?!  Thank you for the reinforcements!!!! I am back on track.  I will get the taxes finished!!  I can do it!

Happy Puppy Day!

I received some wonderful emails and photos today informing me that today is "National Puppy Day!"  I am grateful to everyone that let me know because I definitely would have missed the big day!  I have been so wrapped up in tax week, I haven't taken the time out to play with my sweet puppies like I normally do.  We have a few Truffles puppies that won't be going home until this weekend so we thought it would be fun if they wished everyone HAPPY PUPPY DAY!!!!
Here are their puppy wishes for you.......
"We hope you get kisses.......

even if you don't want one"

"We hope you have someone who will run with joy to see you"

"and help find what you lost"

"And most of all, we hope you have a furever friend to be by your side"
Happy Puppy Day!
