I'm Sorry Tummy

Last night Mr. Yesteryear Acres and I did something we rarely do......we ordered pizza.  That's right.  We picked up the phone and called in our order and picked up pizza to go.  Mr. Yesteryear Acres and I maybe eat out at a restaurant twice a year.  If we have fast food once a year - that is a lot! Pizza is a rarity here.  We always strive for home-cooked dinners.  We love making things from scratch and dinner time has always been a sacred time for our family.  We cherish our family dinners. Last night we were so busy we decided to go for a quick and easy dinner.
We obviously had no trouble devouring the entire pizza.
and then
the aftermath.
"WHY DID I DO THAT??????"
Oh I am sorry tummy.  That was really mean of me.  Tomorrow I will promise to feed you homemade chicken soup and rice.  Tomorrow I will promise to take care of you.  For now......
I'm sorry tummy!

Let's start all over again!

The new mommy doggies are settling in nicely.  We have a very good routine down where I take one mommy dog outside so she can get a good stretch and have a potty break while I change the bedding, get clean water, check all the puppies and then have the mommy dog inspect all my cleaning chores and make sure her babies are fine and settle back down to nurse.  Then I get the next mommy dog outside so she can get a good stretch and have a potty break while I change the bedding, get clean water, check all the puppies and then have the mommy dog inspect all my cleaning chores and make sure her babies are fine and settle back down to nurse. And then guess what?  I get the last mommy dog outside and do all of the puppy chores and by the time I am done with her......it is time to start all over again! The mommy dogs love the routine and are being very good attentive mommies.  The puppies are all doing really well and they are all gaining weight nicely.  I have been doing some extra cooking for their breakfast in bed treatment.  Every mommy dog deserves breakfast in bed!!!!  This morning was turkey and rice.  Tonight's dinner is beef.  In between their special meals, the mommy dogs get all the dry food they want.  They are non-stop eating machines!!!!  Well, just look at the time........time to start all over again!  Oh Mommy dog...time to go outside for a potty break!

Midnight Banana Pancakes

To say that Mr. Yesteryear Acres and I have been a bit busy lately would be an understatement.  We have been burning the midnight oil and then some!  We have missed dinners, haven't had much sleep and have been busy caring for our beautiful new doodle babies.  In the past 4 days, the only dinner we had was the one our younger daughter so thoughtfully prepared for us on Saturday night. That was a delicious treat!  Last night at 11:55pm Mr. Yesteryear Acres and I had to choose between going to sleep or making dinner.  It was a really tough choice as we were both exhausted AND starving.  We decided we really needed something to eat so the pancake battle began!
The cook off.....
Mr. Yesteryear Acres plain boring vanilla pancakes vs. my exciting banana pancakes

Mr. Yesteryear Acres thinks he will take the win
But wait...are those fresh bananas in the pancake batter?  Why yes they are!

Oh the smell of fresh baked bananas.....mmmmmmmmm
Even though we know I won, we will just agree we are both winners.  Midnight Banana Pancakes and Vanilla Pancakes for two!
