Papa Smurf

It seems that having our Doodle Doggies guard our pond 24/7 is an unrealistic expectation.  Although they LOVE that job, there are other things that must be done during the day. To protect our fish-doodles we dye the pond each year with a blue tinted dye that makes it harder for birds of prey to see our little friends. It is one of my very favorite days of the year - it is watercolor painting in blue!

As we continue into spring, the weather keeps getting warmer and warmer! Which also means, our fish in our pond are coming to the surface! 

Hello little fishies!

"Hi! My name is Ernie!!! What's yours?"

"Do you see them all brother? We must protect them!"

With the fish being so visible all across the pond, they are becoming easy targets for fishing birds like the blue heron, green heron, and kingfisher. 

We need Fish Protectors!

With a leap

And a big splashing bound...

Our doodle doggies are ready to protect and serve the pond!

"Don't worry fish! We got your back -uh- fins!"

Today was one of those days where everything went right.  From start to finish - it was a great day.  I woke up this morning and miracle of miracle - I slept last night!  I have had insomnia for weeks and weeks and weeks.  The most sleep I ever get in a night is 4 hours and they are 4 interrupted hours. I can't remember the last time I had more than 4 total hours of sleep.  Last night - I had SIX hours of sleep.  I woke up this morning feeling more rested than I have in a long time.  When I got dressed, I put on one of the shirts I designed and I am pretty sure my entire day of goodness is thanks to my now "Lucky Pig" shirt.

The day could not have been any more beautiful.  It was a perfect May day with perfect weather.  Just walking outside was a big treat of happiness.

The whole day felt just like that. I was able to get the last 2 tickets to a sold out quilting event with a master quilter. I can NOT wait for that.  It was the luckiest thing in the world to get those tickets.  It will be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Mr. Yesteryear Acres was able to move the giant tree that fell across the creek without damaging the yard, the creek or himself!  He definitely said it was the power of the pig!

I found Mr. Yesteryear Acres lost measuring tape.  It is his favorite measuring tape and he has had it for years and years.  It went missing a few weeks ago and today I FOUND IT!

My older daughter received some good news today and she also said

I also made the best dinner.  We had "Breakfast for Dinner" night and my buttermilk biscuits were perfect.  The maple baked beans - delicious!  The roasted tomatoes - divine!  The eggs - scrumptious!  The maple glazed bacon was sooooo good.

Oh no.

Living in the country brings endless happiness to the Doodle Doggies of Yesteryear Acres and to their humans.  I would never want to live anywhere else.  Every day brings beauty and joy.
