Thankful For A Wonderful Hello

Mr. Yesteryear Acres and I have said goodbye to several of our furry family members within this past year.  We lost our beloved Scooter, our beautiful horse Buckwheat and then our Bengal kitty Simba.  There have been so many tears shed. Simba's brother Samurai has been missing his brother and my heart was feeling sad and empty. Yesterday, Mr. Yesteryear Acres took me on a surprise adventure, and I am so deeply and completely grateful for the most wonderful hello.....
Meet Mulan!!!
Thank you SO much Mr. Yesteryear Acres!!!!!
She has filled my heart with so much joy!
Mulan is a 12 week old Silver Bengal
Samurai says, "Thank you for my new sister!!!!!"
Merlin says, "Thank you for my newest best friend!"
She is so snuggly sweet
and is very good at answering emails!
My heart and my lap are full once again!
Hello Mulan!
Welcome to Yesteryear Acres!!!!

Thankful for Insomnia

Last night I couldn't sleep.  I woke up at 3:00am and try as I might - I could not go back to sleep again.  I ended up getting out of bed and tiptoed down the stairs so I wouldn't wake up Mr. Yesteryear Acres with my tossing and turning.  Six minutes after I was downstairs, I got a text from Mr. Yesteryear Acres asking if I was okay.  I told him I was fine and to go back to sleep. 5 more minutes went by and I got another text asking what I was doing.   Another 3 minutes went by and Mr. Yesteryear Acres texted that I should just come back to bed and we could talk in person.  I went back upstairs and Mr. Yesteryear Acres spent the next 3 hours talking to me!  We talked about everything. We talked about our life together and our many blessings and what we are looking forward to in the future. The time just flew by and it was 3 hours of pure uninterrupted talking.  I am so grateful for our quiet time together. I am thankful for my insomnia but most of all
I am thankful for my best friend.

Thank You Day

Thanksgiving has always been one of my very favorite days of the whole year.  It is a day to give thanks.  A day to be grateful.  A holiday full of family and food and happiness. I woke up on this Thanksgiving Day with a little sadness in my heart as we have never had so many empty seats around the table. I am sad that my yearly Thanksgiving saying: "Thank you for house full of people that I love" is not as full as I wish it could be. I am definitely missing my whole family together. However, gratefulness fills my heart as I am thankful for the family I love.  I am thankful for the many blessings of life.  I am thankful to love and be loved.  I am thankful that my family is safe and healthy and I am thankful for the future holidays when our seats around the table will be full once again with family and food and happiness. Wishing you a grateful and healthy Thanksgiving.
May Your Hearts Be Full
Happy Thanksgiving from Yesteryear Acres

Thankful for the Feast

While I am sad that our Thanksgiving table is going to have many many empty seats this year, I am thankful that we are still making a full Thanksgiving feast. We will only have three family members enjoying the traditional dinner - but my favorite meal of the year is still happening!

Let the baking begin!!!!!
Thank goodness we have doodle helpers to make sure the pumpkin is suitable for the pumpkin log!
Happy Day Before the Feast!

Thankful for Dry Paws

Merlin Kitty is very good at doing farm chores and keeping us company all day long. However, the brief rain shower today was not his favorite.
What's a cat to do?

I must not have wet paws - ever

Thankful for Newborn Puppies

Every time we welcome a newborn puppy into the world we are filled with love, happiness, and thankfulness. There is truly nothing like the love of a dog.  No matter what kind of day you are having - the love of a dog makes it even better.  Dogs love you on your worst days with the same enthusiasm as they do on your best days.  Dogs just love you.
And what could be better than that?
Thankful for every little pawprint

Thankful for Virtual Visits

With Covid cases on the rise and family gatherings becoming less likely, I am thankful for virtual visits.  I cannot imagine how lonely 2020 would be without the ability to chat and text and Facetime with our family and friends. A virtual "how are you doing" is just the thing to help us all stay connected.
"Hi Friend!  How's everything going? I miss you!"
We are thankful for the visits - even from afar.

Thankful for the Time We Had

In August I received the devastating diagnosis that my 5 year old Bengal cat Simba was terminal. Last night we had to say goodbye to the very best cat I have ever owned.
We brought Samurai and Simba to Yesteryear Acres in 2015
Bestest brother friends
Our little toy poodle Scooter loved their warm hugs!
So did I!!!!
Simba was more like a dog than a cat.
He came when he was called, played fetch so well that he even taught puppies to play fetch, and followed us wherever we went.
I mean no matter what we were doing
Simba was the most faithful companion
His favorite holiday was Christmas
and loved decorating the tree!
His ladder climbing skills were excellent!
I know his brother Samurai is going to miss him so much
And my lap will never feel the same
Last night's sky filled with the most beautiful colors right before we said our final goodbyes.  I think Simba was thanking us for the very best life and I was thanking him for all his love.
Rest in Peace Simba
We love you forever
