For a few days now, Hazel wakes up and says, "Mommy! I am a puppy today! RUFF!". She wants to do ALL the things the puppy dogs do, go for a walk, get treats, go outside, snuggle on the couch, and most of all... fetch. It has been so cold here lately that I keep having to tell her that we need to wait to play fetch until it is warmer outside. Today she said, "But I need a really big doggie bone to play with. I am a PUPPY Mama." What is a Mom to do? She needs a really big dog bone! So I told Hazel we would make her a big puppy bone as soon as her brother went down for his afternoon post-lunch nap.
Finally the moment arrived and we headed into my office and set up (and dusted off, sorry sewing machine! I miss you too!) my sewing machine
Hazel picked out watermelon fabric with
Green thread and bright blue bobbin - Puppy dog's choices were put above Mommy's want to make the project 'perfect'. Which Mommy had to remind herself a few times as the helpers helped Mommy sew....
One doggie bone drawn with the help of Puppy Hazel herself!
Ready to sew!
"Woooof"
Thankfully all paws were on deck for the 'Really Big Doggie Bone' project
Until they weren't.... Uh Hello? Hazel puppy??
Hazel decided to bring a very large portion of the dog toys into the room so that they could play puppy with her
And once her seat was empty...
It was quickly filled back up again
Kipper sewing supervisor at the ready
"Looks doggone good to me!"
Lap full of 'puppies'!
Last few stitches
"Is it ready Mama?"
Yes! Time to trim...
Then flip...
And stuff!
"Mommy, I want to make it SO fluffy huge"
Hazel did a GREAT job stuffing her very own very big doggie bone
And then finally it was done!
Hazel Puppy's very own big doggie bone
Just PAWfect for (indoor) fetch
And snuggling
And sharing
Come on doggies!
"My very own doggie toy mama! We made it!"
We sure did buddy!!!
One very happy toddler... Er I mean Puppy!
Always,
Amelia
