Springtime in Ohio has always been on the crazy side -freezing cold one day and spring like the next- but now that I have two small kids, I would like to file an official complaint. Not only do I have to pack 987,765,540 layers to go anywhere, but the glimpses into the spring and summer are JUST NOT FAIR. DO you KNOW how hard it is to wrangle a crawling baby into a snowsuit?? AND then have him cry incessantly because he is IN a snowsuit while I hogtie my toddler into her snowsuit??? AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE MITTENS!!! Why is there not a better solution to warm baby and toddler hands!?!?!? WHY??? And now you are probably thinking, "What's the matter? You always say you love winter and snow".... Yes you'd be correct. When we had a routine and I knew it was going to take us an hour to get outside and then have to come right back in because Hazel needs to use the potty and Thatcher is falling asleep in the backpack carrier and then we have to start all over again. Fine fine fine. BUT DO NOT TEASE ME WITH SUNSHINE. Do not let us walk outside in light glorious easy to zip up sweaters and tennis shoes and TAKE IT AWAY FROM ME. And now I have to explain why I said winter was almost over and now we have snow. And it is not enough snow for a snowman, and No there is not enough snow to eat it off the ground, and Yes the flowers are still going to come... All while trying to shove shuffling feet with knees whacking me in the face into snow-boots for the millionth time when yesterday we opened the door let all the dogs out and walked into the backyard within 5 minutes.
I went from grumpy awoken hibernating bear to a frolicking happy little deer and then basically was shoved back into my cave and told to layer back up. NO. I don't want to anymorrreeee.
So please, stop with the weather whiplash, I can't take it! I am confused what to dress us all in the morning, the dogs are confused as I started spring haircuts and the next day they woke up to a winter wonderland when I opened the door, and my toddler is very confused about the seasons and keeps asking about Santa and also the Easter Bunny.
