I Wonder If I Can Make That

 I’m so lucky to have a Sister-in-Law like Bri! She fits right into our family and is one of the hardest workers I know! Between her full time nursing career, going back to graduate school, being a super mom, a best walking buddy, and wrangler of my brother..... Bri also has her own beautiful flower garden! She  spends any free second she has lovingly caring for her growing garden business and bountiful bouquets. I have been searching for something to get Bri to just show her how much I appreciate her and all the big and little things she does. I’ve been scouring Pinterest and Etsy for something for her flowers and it finally occurred to me… “I wonder if I can make that?!”

And so I set myself to work in the studio 

First up, fabric selection! Bri loves flowers (duhhh) and soft pretty pinks 

Luckily I knew exactly which fabrics and webbing just screamed “I’m for Bri!” 

My rough idea sketch of an open flower gathering “basket” to put in her fresh cut flowers so she can carry her picks of the day into the house without the blooms getting knocked around. I thought the fabric would be nice and soft against the petals yet sturdy enough to hold the weight of a big bunch

With my ideas whizzing around in my brain, I was glad to have a helper in the Y Acres Studio to keep me grounded

Now time to add in the webbing handles

I CAN make my idea!!!

And I LOVE it!! 

Just one last step… Time to test my prototype for durability

It gives it the right balance for carrying 

“Mom I think it’s ready!”

Time to deliver my surprise!!

Baxter Therapy Doodle

 Baxter (Yesteryear Acres F1B Goldendoodle Alumni) sent us a few pictures to let us know he is working hard making his therapy rounds.  

He brings joy everywhere he goes!!!!!

National Gingerbread Day

 If you could believe it, today is National Gingerbread Day! When I heard that this afternoon - SWEATING from another humid June day- I thought to myself.. "heck yeah I could eat some gingerbread" And thus my afternoon ' was booked.

Let's DO this!

First step is to always prep the baking area

Then it was time to cream the butter with the brown sugar

Then I added the molasses

I decided to mix blackstrap molasses and robust molasses for the gingerbread

After I added the ginger flour mixture, it was time to fill our cake pan for the oven

Filled and ready to make our gingerbread day dreams come true!

.... 1 hour 15 minutes later....

Gingerbread Done!

Until Mr. Yesteryear Acres came inside and asked where the iced topping was

And thus we have reached Iced Gingerbread Heaven!

I mean when its hot outside you ask for ice right?!?

Isn't it fun when inspiration can strike in the strangest of forms?

Happy 4th Birthday Tucker

 Our sweet Double Doodle Blue delivered a bundle of adorable Doodle Puppies four years ago. "Mr. Gummy Bear" collar boy soon became "Tucker" and headed to his new home with his FURever family.

 Tucker's family just sent in a few pictures of his big 4th birthday party.

They can't believe he is already 4!

They say he is the bestest boy!

Memory Quilt

 Always Amelia has been asked to make another memory quilt for someone who lost her mom. We received a box of the mom's favorite clothing.  Items the mom always wore which will serve as a tapestry of memories of times shared with her mom.

The first task is to cut the clothing into large pieces

Amelia has to separate the backs from the fronts and remove the sleeves

Then each piece gets measured and cut down into rectangles.

Mr. Yesteryear Acres made an acrylic template so each piece will be perfectly sized.  Once the entire box of clothing is made into rectangles, the sewing shall begin!
