Freedom!

As you can imagine, there is quite a lot of puppy poop to clean up each day here at Yesteryear Acres.  Thankfully the puppies learn to go potty outside fairly quickly and we take the puppies out every 2 hours so the majority of our puppy poop clean up is in the grass.  With puppies running in every direction, keeping the yard clean can be challenging.  Sometimes we need to put the puppies in the play yard so we can get the big yard cleaned up properly.
What do you mean we have to wait in here while you work?
Are you done yet?
How about now?

Man it is taking them forever to clean the yard
They opened the gate!!!!!
HOORAY!
Let's Go!
This is a big step!
Really big
I am going to give it a try
Here I go
Ummmm Now what?
You have to get your back legs over!!!!
Here, let me give you a boost!!!
FREEDOM!!!!!
Hey I know...... Let's go poop again!!!!

Measuring Tape? What Measuring Tape?

On our now "There is no Mr. Yesteryear Acres" list we have modified and come up with alternatives to many of the "Mr. Yesteryear Acres" jobs.  Some things simply cannot be accomplished.  Others will get done with a little ingenuity.  Today Mr. Yesteryear Acres was worried about the 48 tomato plants that were beyond ready to be planted. The other 50+ tomato plants that he had planned on getting into the garden may not happen but the 48 that he already had started, well that was going to get done today!
Alright Tomatoes....Let's do this!
This isn't how Mr. Yesteryear Acres does it....but the plants are going in!
47 more to go
My very favorite tomato planter
Measuring Tape?  What measuring tape? This is the new way!
Our supervisor
When showing this picture to my son (who is in Louisiana for the summer) he said the following:
"I am impressed........
I am genuinely impressed by how crooked those plants are!"
"Are you trying to write a message with the plants that can be seen from space?"
"Is this going to be a tomato maze?"
"I thought maybe this was a rendering of an EKG reading"
But we worked until the sun was setting! We couldn't wait to show Mr. Yesteryear Acres the pictures of all we accomplished.
Mr. Yesteryear Acres said,
"We forgot the measuring tape"
"We didn't add the proper nutrients to the soil"
"The spacing is incorrect"
OH YEAH????
WELL THIS IS THE NEW GARDEN!
We don't need a measuring tape!
It is the most beautiful squiggly tomato planting EVER!

Man Down!!!

Our summer is not going to go as we originally planned. We had a very full list full of gardening, hay baling, gazebo building, kitchen remodeling and much more.  Our list now has been erased.  Mr. Yesteryear Acres seriously injured his knee getting off the tractor.  MAN DOWN!
A trip to the ER. Not good news.  Orthopedic surgeon agreed. Mr. Yesteryear Acres is out for the summer. Now we can add trips to the surgeon and trying to duplicate all that Mr. Yesteryear Acres does each and every day. Step one...... "How do you start the tractor?"  Step two..."What do you mean clutch?"
Ohhhhh Amelia........Mr. Yesteryear Acres has a fun new job for you!

This is what Dinner Time Looks Like

Last night around 8pm I walked back to the garden to see if there was any chance Mr. Yesteryear Acres wanted to eat dinner.  I realize most families eat their dinner long before 8pm. This is what dinner time looks like at Yesteryear Acres...
"I have to get the garden ready for planting!"
I guess it is a good thing he is getting the garden done.  Looks like it is time to bale the hay next!!!!
The hay is tall and ever so lovely!!!
Hay time is SOON!
But for now......"Just one more pass with the rototiller and I will be in!"
Sure Mr. Yesteryear Acres.  Sure.

A Moment's Pause

We have been really working hard here at Yesteryear Acres and haven't found much time to relax or to even sit down for a quick break.  Most nights we finally call it quits a little after 11pm and by that time, we are too tired to do much of anything.  Even too tired to eat ice cream!  We have a few more weeks of non-stop work and then things might slow down a bit.......just in time for all the hours needed for garden season! Thankfully we love what we do so every day, even those filled with non-stop work, are happy ones.  Every once in a while though.....
It is wonderful to take a moment's pause, feel the warm sun on our face, the cool grass on our backs and enjoy.  The Doodle Doggies like that too.
Smart Doodle Doggies!

What Farley and Luc Learned

Today my last Blossom pup I was training went home. I will miss having these little stinkers following me around! Both Farley and Luc were excellent puppies in training!! We had an awesome week together. They learned....

How to go for big adventures.... As well how to sit on command along the way

How to help me with emails... At night and

Early in the morning

How to ask for belly rubs

And snuggles

How to make new friends and share toys

How to go for car rides
and lastly,

How to be just the most adorable love bug, but I feel like they already knew that one ;)

I will miss you puppies! Have the best time at your forever homes!

Always,

Amelia
