Pre-Dinner Entertainment

Sometimes dinner goes as planned, and other times… well it takes a little longer. Luckily we have prime time entertainment to keep all the little ones occupied until meal time arrives!

Charlie and Kiki

 We received the nicest update from two of our Alumni Yesteryear Acres Doodles. Charlie and Kiki are living their best life and are filling their human mom's days with endless tail wagging devotion.

We are the happiest of Doodle Doggies!

Cut That Up Y Acres Studio

 With the chilly winter weather quickly approaching, it is time to start thinking warm thoughts.  Time to get busy in the Y Acres Studio!!!!

We won't have much time to spend in the Studio with Mr. Yesteryear Acres second hip surgery scheduled this week, but it was nice to get a little head start on the next project.

This sweatshirt needs a new life!

 We have 2 new adorable Devon Rex Kittens to love!!!!

This little Mink Seal Point boy will just melt your heart

He is PURRfect!

And this Little Blue Point Boy

is PURRfectly snuggable!

Jasmine's kittens are really starting to get bigger

They popped up to say,

HAPPY CATURDAY!!!!

But Not Maverick…

It was a gorgeous Fri-Yay and the Doodle Doggies only had one thing on their mind…

FETCH of course!

It is time for fetch!

THROW THE BALLLLL! We are ready to GO!

Maverick had other ideas

He liked to wander into the field and

Maverick said, "Sniffing the ground is obviously way more interesting than a slobbery chuck-it-ball"

All the doggies were tired

With their tongues flopping in happy fetch satisfaction

Rewarding themselves with grass scratches for a job well done 

But not Maverick...

 He continued to march to the beat of his own drum and sunbathe!

Power Outage Soup

Picture this- it’s a BEAUTIFUL Autumn day- the sun is shining, the sky is blue, the air is crisp-yet not biting. It’s LOVELY… when all of a sudden the power goes off. The Yesteryear Acres house gave one loud “beeeeeeeeeep” in protest and left us all in a dark and unusual quiet space. I wasn’t about to admit it out loud, but I was afraid it was my fault. Just this morning I was reflecting on the things I am thankful for (being November and all) and I thought to myself how I am thankful for electricity and running water and how I have privilege in not worrying about access to these on a daily basis. So CLEARLY I JINXED MY WHOLE TOWN! Y’all I am SO SORRY! And what is worse… our power company said power will not be restored until after 11pm tonight. 

So since I am obviously to blame, I got to work on gathering candles, lanterns, and head lamps. Then I brainstormed a dinner idea and I am pleased to present you with 

Power Outage Soup

Directions- go outside and use outdoor cookery as heat source, open cans of tomato soup and add VERY cold water (as there is and will not be any warm water)

Next add butter, bread, and cheese in the form of grilled cheese (my phone clearly captured the light much better than my eyes in person as many of the sandwiches were in the darker scale of burnt-ness. Oops!)

Think warm thoughts with the bestest little helper Hazel

And be thankful for the ability to still feed the Yesteryear Acres Family

And Voila! Dinner by lantern light!

Don’t worry- The power just came on…

Just in time to do dishes Hahahaha!

BOOtiful Time

Sadly the annual "Trick or Trees" event at the Arboretum was cancelled. It is our favorite Halloween activity. We already had cute costumes for the kids and searched for a fun safe trick or treat event.  

Thankfully we found one and had a BOOtiful time!

William was so excited to be a Bumble Bee!!!!

Colton says, "I am a farmer every day!"

Everbody knows Hazel is the cutest pumpkin!

William's favorite activity was the FIRE TRUCK!!!!
