Leaving By 11

My daughter and I woke up early this morning to try and cross off the last remaining things on the pre-deployment list of things to do.  We are making good progress and my goal is to be in the car heading on home by 11.  My son texted me and asked what I was doing so I texted back the big list of what I still have left to accomplish.  He then said that it is a good thing that I never said WHICH day I would be leaving at 11. Of course I started laughing and I replied back that I never indicated whether I would be leaving at 11am or 11pm so I was still on track.  It is going to be hard to say goodbye to my daughter and even though we are working as hard as we can to get everything done, things are taking a little longer than I anticipated.  One way or another......I am leaving by 11........I guess we will have to wait and see whether that would be am or pm! I am hitting the road and heading on home TODAY!

One By One

Mr. Yesteryear Acres has been busy with our sweet doodle puppies that are going home this weekend. He has a huge task doing that all by himself and of course is doing an excellent job.  One by one our Goldendoodle puppies have been happily greeting their new owners with wagging tails and are on their way to their new families.  A big THANK YOU to one puppy family who agreed to help out another puppy family by driving two puppies home.  That was the kindest gesture and was so deeply appreciated by the puppy family who couldn't find a way to make the drive to Yesteryear Acres. Thanks to the thoughtfulness of Ms. Pink Pawprint's new family - Cherry Blossom has made her way home too! Now that is a furry gift of happiness! Speaking of furry happiness........we have these two Goldendoodle babies still available
and they are ready for their new homes now.
Meanwhile, I am busy finishing up the last minute details with my daughter. There are so many little things that need to be done like canceling subscriptions, turning off cable and phone and internet and stopping mail and storing her vehicle. The list seems endless! One by one we are crossing things off the list,  I should be able to leave tomorrow morning and make the long drive back home. I will be heartbroken when I say my last goodbye to my daughter but will feel happy knowing that she is prepared for her deployment. Alright.....Back to the list!

Thanks for the help!

I had to drive my sister to the airport early this morning as she had to head back home to Vermont. It was sad to see her go! She really went above and beyond in helping me get my daughter all ready for her deployment.  Last night my daughter said she could feel the stress melting away as we got so much accomplished this week. I couldn't have done it all without my sister's help!
My sister and I promised each other we would make it to the ocean before my sister had to leave.  Little did we know - the beach was less than a 10 minute drive from my daughter's house!
WE MADE IT!
Just in time too!  The view was beautiful!

It is probably a good thing that we didn't know how close we were to the beach.  We might not have been as productive!
Our Final Goodbye.
This is what love feels like.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Peanut Sauce Too!

If my sister's devotion to helping me clean my daughter's house the entire day yesterday wasn't enough, she made the most fantastic dinner last night. I mean it was birthday good.  She marinated chicken tenderloins with freshly chopped ginger and garlic and onions and secret spices and it was the most delicious chicken ever.  She didn't stop there either.  We had pan fried baby green beans, black rice and homemade peanut sauce too! She made a double batch of the peanut sauce and it was sooooo good.  We ate it with everything.  My daughter didn't get home last night until after 10pm and as soon as she walked in, she almost cried with happiness.  The heavenly aroma of my sister's dinner greeted her and my daughter ran to get her plate.  She loved every bite.  At one point she just stopped eating and looked at the plate with a big smile and said this was just the best meal ever.  After dinner we showed her all the progress we had made.  We got huge hugs of thanks and she was so very grateful for all we did.  Operation "Deployment Readiness" .....big success!!!!!!

Cleaning up and Packing up

My sister flew all the way from Vermont to come help me get my older daughter ready to leave for her deployment. That is true love!!!!  My daughter has to be at the Marine Corps Base all week long and has no time to get everything done on the deployment checklist.  She will be deployed for 9-12 months so there is just a ton to do before she deploys this weekend.  My sister and I have spent the whole day cleaning and getting things boxed up and ready for storage. It is so nice to have the help!  I am excited to see the look on my daughter's face when she sees everything we have accomplished so far.  Tomorrow will be more of the same. With my sister's help - my daughter will be all set and can leave knowing everything has been taken care of.  Thank you dear sister! You are the best!

Last Puppy Goodbyes

My daughter said her last goodbyes to the puppies before we left home.  Saying goodbye to the doggies is sometimes the hardest part.  They are just too cute to leave! Here are some pictures from my daughter's puppy goodbyes and then tomorrow I will have even more puppy pictures to post.  I have so many adorable pictures that "Puppy Picture Monday" will also be "Puppy Picture Tuesday" too!  You can never have too much cuteness!!!!
"Hey! Look what we found!"

"Oh Boy!!! A BIG PILLOW!"

"Let's all hop on"

"This is the best pillow ever"

"We should all join in"

"Can we stay here all day long?"

"This is the perfect resting place"

"Ahhhhhhh"

"We love you so much!"

"and....your hat tastes yummy"

"Sniff Sniff"
"Bye sweet puppies! I will miss you!"

Nov 30 - Quality and Quantity Thankfulness

After one last final breakfast together this morning, Mr. Yesteryear Acres and my younger daughter and my son said their tearful goodbyes to my older daughter. The hugs were long and meaningful and full of love.  We pulled out of the driveway with tears in our eyes and hit the road. I decided to drive my daughter back to the Marine Corps base rather than have her fly back all alone. I thought a little bit of quality one-on-one time would be the perfect way to end the holiday weekend. Well my daughter and I got that quality one-on-one time and then some.  We had quality and quantity.  The drive back was full of traffic, standstills, accidents, and long stretches of moving so slowly we made no progress whatsoever.  At one point we drove 30 minutes and only traveled 1 mile.  I can walk faster than that - no make that I can hop on one foot faster than that.  It really was that bad.  At first we were so annoyed and frustrated but after hours of snarled traffic, we just started to laugh and made the best of it.  We figured a few months from now we would give anything to spend an entire day together, even if the day were spent stuck in traffic.  We sang songs, talked about life and cracked each other up until tears were rolling down our faces.  Thankfully we made it safe and sound and are now ready for some serious shut-eye.  I am thankful for all the time we had together. I am thankful for my thankfulness month full of happiness and gratitude.  And......Happy December First! Yes - it is that late!  Good night!
