I See Puppies!

Today's Labradoodle Breeder Conference was full of great information.  We had a terrific speaker on challenges for the future and protecting the health of the Doodle breed.  It was really great. This afternoon we had an ultrasound demonstration!  A breeder brought in her Mommy Doggie that was bred 28 days ago and......
I See Puppies!!!!!
How cool is that?!

We learned so much this weekend

I took notes on some great ideas to try at home

And they are safely tucked away in my Conference Folder

The schedule of events

So many Doodle breeders eager to learn how to improve their programs
AND my favorite thing of course!  Eating Great Food with AWESOME FRIENDS!
I am lucky to be able to spend the weekend learning so much and sharing and being with caring breeders who love their Doggies as much as I do!!!!!

Great Info

Today's seminar has been terrific.  Not only is the speaker super knowledgable about Transformational Puppy Rearing, she is also a Golden Retriever breeder so she has practical hands-on experiences which makes the presentation even better. I love it when someone really knows their stuff.  I also love it when someone loves what they do.  I am really glad I was able to make the trip here and I am always glad to learn new techniques.  My favorite thing about today's lecture is that I have basically received lots of affirmations that we are doing things just right at Yesteryear Acres.  That always feels good! It is awesome to know we are doing what is best for our furry Doodle babies and Doodle Mommies and Doodle Daddies! We love them so much!

Heading Out

I am heading out for the annual Labradoodle Breeder's Conference.  I have never missed a single conference and I love going. We have speaker sessions that start early in the morning and continue through the day.  Our speakers are experts in their field and I absolutely love learning new things.  I have never failed to learn something valuable from the Conference. It is not only enjoyable going to the lectures but it is really great to connect and share and talk with other Doodle breeders as well. It is awesome learning from one another.  Keeping up with best practices for our doodle doggies and doodle puppies is so important to me. I always want to do what is best for our furry best friends! Can't wait for our morning session tomorrow!  My notepad is ready!

CDL - Check!

My son just took his Commercial Driver's License test and passed with flying colors.  He is now the proud recipient of a CDL license. My son has a part time job with CABS at The Ohio State University. He began his job as soon as school started and has been doing maintenance and other non-driving work for them. Tonight he gets to start his first in-bus driving training. He is pretty excited.  He will be working on parking, maneuverability, making box turns, and then he will actually start driving the bus routes.  This will give him excellent experience for his future aspirations of farm management.  He will be able to drive the semis and farm equipment with ease.  Way to go!

Keeping us safe

Our little farm kitty Dottie is an expert at keeping Yesteryear Acres safe. She is just the very best kitty and is an expert at her job.
Dottie makes sure our fish are safe from predators

She is quite adept with farm equipment

Dottie is a Doodle Doggie's very best friend.
She is always there to give a hug while keeping the hay field safe.

She is also a very good napper

If you ever need homework support, Dottie is there to lend a paw.
Thanks Dottie!!!! Yesteryear Acres is thankful for all your help!

Waiting and Waiting

I left my older daughter's house at 5:00am this morning.  The starlit sky was breathtaking.  Planets, constellations, and the Milky Way were all shining down on me.  It was beautiful.  After a long day of travel, I arrived home to find Mr. Yesteryear Acres with this puppy still waiting for her family......
"Guess I will play with this leaf while I wait"

"and wait"

"And wait"

And her family never came.
Or called or texted or emailed.
So now we have this sweet girl available and ready for her new home now.
She is a good little puppy
And is awesome with the game of fetch!

She will even bring her leaf to you to share

Wanna play again?

She would love to help carve a pumpkin with her new family

She is really good at finding just the perfect pumpkin

And she always comes when she is called

"Here I come!"
She will be waiting for her FURever family to fall in love with her soon!

Carry On

Today I concentrated on doing all the things I could to make things easier for my daughter. I had a big list and the top of it was GET HER BETTER! Thanks to the much needed antibiotics, she started feeling a little better with each passing hour. We spent the day together talking, watching a little TV and relaxing, coloring, and taking care of much needed chores around the house. I washed all her blankets and sheets and remade her bed so it's all nice and fluffy for when I leave bright and early tomorrow morning. All her laundry is done and neatly put away.  Her house is all clean and shiny. One of her friends came over and mowed her lawn so she could keep resting which was incredibly thoughtful. She paid her bills, got a nap, and sat under a heated electric blanket. My daughter was very grateful her mom came down to give her some much needed motherly medicine which she said helps make everything better!   And when I say coloring, boy did we color! We spent time chatting and relaxing with adult coloring books that has all different kinds of designs contained in a larger picture. We did a lion and a horse. As you can see, we had very different visions and outcomes from the same copied and scanned pages.

It was so fun! While we were coloring, I heard a huge boom! It shook the whole house and I jumped to look up at my older daughter whose reaction was, "artillery...... Carry On." I guess this isn't Yesteryear Acres!! Regardless of the noises and the military jargon and acronyms, we had a wonderful day and loved seeing each other. We ended the day with a fantastic dinner and we both cannot wait to see each other again! Thanksgiving...... Please Hurry! Until then, it is time to pack! 0530am flight! Ack!

Errands and more Errands

I have been running just about everywhere today.  I think I can say that I am quite familiar with the Camp Lejeune area!  I have been crossing things off the to-do list as fast as I can.  Pharmacy run- check.  Doctor's office - check. Medals/Ribbons for uniform - check. Unclog drain - check. Fix fuse box....CHECK!  (That one surprised even me!)  Now that I have traveled all over Jacksonville and back and back again, I can concentrate on making a nice healthy dinner and taking care of my daughter.  She finally was given the much needed antibiotics for her post-surgery infection so I am hopeful that the healing can begin! Recovery time starts now!

TLC Needed

My older daughter has had a bit of a health crisis and it has been difficult dealing with this situation from far away. I have tried my best to help her but what was really needed was .... TLC.  When it was clear that I needed to be with her, it took me no time at all to book a flight and I was out the door and at the airport before the sun was even up.  I was treated to a beautiful sunrise from 20,000 feet and took a moment to reflect on what is important in life.....
Family
Health
Love
All the other things are just things.  Nothing matters more than the love of family and happy healthy family members.  I will be here through the weekend taking care of my daughter. I got to Camp Lejeune early enough today to go grocery shopping and warehouse club shopping and filled her pantry shelves and refrigerator with healthy fresh food. My daughter is resting comfortably under her new electric blanket and I cleaned up a bit. I even had time to get a chicken in the oven and it has been slowly roasting all day so tonight I will be serving her chicken and rice for dinner. I remain hopeful.......TLC delivered!

Campfire Happiness

A perfect night with my sweet Mr. Yesteryear Acres is not spent out on the town or at a fancy restaurant. A perfect night is simply spent here at Yesteryear Acres.  Luckily, we have many many many nights like that!  One of my favorite ways to spend the evening is cooking out on our campfire back by the pond.  Mr. Yesteryear Acres is king of the grill and can make anything from perfect campfire steaks to good ole smoked sausages.  Our campfire meals are always delicious!  Our campfire desserts are pretty good too!  Campfire caramel apples are a big hit this time of year and we are known to make a fire just for dessert.

Mmmmm Baby Yukon Gold Potatoes from our garden
Every bite was delicious!
And a beautiful sunset for our after dinner treat.
Life. Is. Beautiful.
