Almost a Lunch Date

This morning Mr. Yesteryear Acres and I took off for the big warehouse club shopping expedition.  We had our list ready.  We had our game plan set.  We were on a mission to get in and out of the warehouse club and then go out for a lunch date before we had to head on back home.  Perfect plan! When we got to the warehouse club, evidently everyone else had the same plan.  The club was packed full and it took forever to get everything.  It didn't help that we were stopped every few minutes with the "is all that dog food for one dog????" and the "how many bags of dog food is that?" and of course the "do you guys have dogs?" questions. Mr. Yesteryear Acres was quick to reassure all the curious shoppers that the dog food was for us and it helps keep our teeth pearly white! By the time we actually got to the SUV and started to unload the cart, the snow began falling in earnest and all hopes of a lunch date faded with every falling flake.  Time to get back to Yesteryear Acres.  At least we were lucky and had delicious leftovers waiting for us. I guess that can still count as a lunch date!

Ready. Set. Crochet!

The crochet projects that were started this Christmas holiday turned out great!  Both my younger daughter and Bri have been crocheting the hours away and I think they may have turned into yarn addicts.
My younger daughter made this entire set for her sister.  Matching hat, boot toppers and infinity scarf.

I love the boot toppers!

This is Bri's second project. Her first project was a red and black infinity scarf using straight half double crochet stitches.  Once she mastered that, my younger daughter showed her a more complicated pattern that is awesome!
I love this super long chunky gorgeous scarf!
Bri is now working on a matching ear warmer.
My daughter whipped this up in one evening.  Love it!
Looks like I better put my order in.  I am thinking, ear warmers, hat, boot toppers, scarf and an afghan! Ready. Set. Crochet!

Why Hello Again!

Today was another chilly snow-filled day.  We have a few younger Doodle Doggies that have never seen snow before and they LOVE it.  They spent the afternoon romping around in the white stuff and playing fetch with overwhelming delight.  It was really fun to play with them in the snow.  I think they love playing in the snow as much as I do.  After Mr. Yesteryear Acres and I were all done with our afternoon farm chores - we were treated to the very best surprise. We were standing outside when we saw a big shadow cross our path.  We looked up into the sky and......... our bald eagle was back!!!!!  Two winters ago we had a bald eagle visit Yesteryear Acres and I thought that was a once in a lifetime occurrence.  Looks like I was wrong!  Why Hello Again!!!!  It was such a beautiful sight. They are just the most majestic birds and a treasured visitor to Yesteryear Acres. As the smiles filled our faces, we watched the bald eagle circle and soar and slowly fly out of view.  Thanks for visiting Mr. Bald Eagle.  Please come again!!!

What a Wonderful World

I awoke to a beautiful vision of white this morning.  Everything was snow-covered and I walked outside into my very own snowglobe.  I love a big snowfall and today was just a beautiful snowy wonderful day.  Mr. Yesteryear Acres and I worked hard all day and then right before sunset tonight, we went out sledding together.  We had a blast.  We enjoyed every snowflake and spent over an hour playing around in our winter wonderland.  The sunset was gorgeous tonight as well.  The sun was a brilliant shade of bright red and covered the snow-covered field in a bright pink light.  As I sat with Mr. Yesteryear Acres out in the snow and watched the red sun slowly set - all I could think was, "What a Wonderful World".

Not a Millionaire

Like many of you, I woke up this morning to find out that overnight I did not become a millionaire.  Well technically Mr. Yesteryear Acres woke up to find out that he was in fact not a millionaire which means that I am not the wife of a millionaire. While waiting for the lottery results we played the... "What would we do if we won the lottery" game.  We are probably the most boring "what we would do" people ever.  If we won the lottery, we would still surround ourselves with doodle doggies and doodle puppies.  We would still surround ourselves with animals.  We would still have a huge garden and we would still do all the harvesting and canning. We would want lots of property and we would still be thankful for mowing the lawn and trimming the walking trails and enjoying all of nature's beauty. Every time we came up with a job that we could delegate to someone else, we ended up deciding that we would still want to do what we do.  The only job we came up with that we would love for someone else to help us with was housecleaning.  So I guess since I am not a millionaire, I will go vacuum the kitchen and Mr. Yesteryear Acres will take out the trash. Only for the next few days though because Wednesday we might be Billionaires!!!!!

Now that's PASTA!

After the great success of Ravioli night, my son and Bri decided that they would try their hand at pasta making.  They decided to make homemade fettuccini for dinner.  This is what happens when my son helps.....
Nice size normal pasta sheets, ready to cut into fettuccini

"Hey Bri - I bet we can make the pasta sheets longer!"

"Not long enough!"

"Austin I think this is long enough!"

"Nah.....Let's keep going!"

"Let's make it even longer"

not long enough yet

keep going

"Austin stop!!!!!!  That is long enough!"

Now that's PASTA!

Serving Size.....One Noodle!
and of course
Dinner was delicious!
