Thankful- 50 Year Celebration - November 19th

We are so very thankful that today we were able to attend a big 50 Year Celebration for Mr. Yesteryear Acres Dad.  For 50 years Mr. Yesteryear Acres Dad has been an active member of the Freemasonry. Tonight we witnessed the pinning ceremony and the acknowledgement of his many years of service.  It was a proud moment and I am glad so many of Mr. Yesteryear Acres family came for the ceremony.  There was a big celebration dinner afterwards and in true Yesteryear Acres fashion, we had to miss the dinner and hurry home to take care of our Doodle Doggies and Puppies but we were able to congratulate Mr. Yesteryear Acres Dad and give him a big hug before we left.
Congratulations Mr. Yesteryear Acres Dad!
50 Years of Dedicated Service!

Thankful.....I LOVE CANDY! November 18th

I admit it.  I Love Candy.  Anyone who knows me is well aware of my candy-loving nature.  When I was young, candy was not something we ever had and so now I celebrate candy and revel in my love of candy with childlike enthusiasm. I  love having candy in the house EVEN if I don't eat it.  Just having it near me makes me happy.  Candy is a special treat sitting by my desk saying, "Hi - I am delicious and full of happiness".  I am thankful for both my love of candy and my ability to eat candy.  Last night I was telling my son that at the Doodle Breeder Conference in New York City, they had "Caramel M&M's" and I LOVED them.  I think I ate almost every bag at the conference and I wish I had more! Right then and there at 10pm last night, my son started his car, and said, "Well let's go get some!"  So we did!  Late night candy run to the store!  That is double the thankfulness.  Time with my son AND candy!  What is better?  I can't think of anything!
Now this is an excellent grocery adventure!
Thanks Austin!

Thankfulness - Doodle Nights - November 17th

Things usually wind down here each evening around 10-10:30pm.  We often have plans to call it quits earlier with the hopes that maybe just maybe we could sit down and relax by 9:00pm but I can count the times that has actually happened on one hand.  Invariably something happens and it is after 10pm before the boots and socks come off and the slippers finally are on. You would think we might just sit down on the couch and relax.....
Mr. Yesteryear Acres!!!!!!  You are done working for the night!!!!!!!
Hooray!  Snuggle time!
Amelia's lap looks like the very best place to sit!
Doodle nights always make us feel thankful and loved
Ummmm Mrs. Yesteryear Acres?  YOUR TURN!
Ahhhh......That's better!

Thankfulness - Neighborly Love - November 16th

I am so very thankful that today we were able to spend the afternoon with our dear sweet neighbor, Wilma.  She recently turned 90 and Wilma still can do math problems in her head faster than most people I know.  She is quick witted and full of laughs, love and endless smiles.  Wilma has been a constant figure in our lives and an important part of our children's lives.  She and her husband Paul were married for 60 beautiful loving years before he passed away and both Wilma and Paul were our children's grandparents - well "neighbor" grandparents but grandparents in every sense of the word. We have loved them since the day we moved to Yesteryear Acres and I am so thankful the two of them were part of our lives.  As we celebrated Wilma's 90 wonderful years, we were all so thankful to be with her today.  She is a light in our lives and in our hearts.
Forever Thankful

Thankful....BEDTIME....November 15th

What can I say?  I love to sleep.  I love to sleep in.  I love my big bed.  I love my comfy sheets.  I love bedtime.  I am always thankful for bedtime.  I think I am not alone in this thankfulness.....
Beds near radiators are so cozy
Sometimes it is nice to just be near a bed
Bringing snuggle toys to bed is always a good idea
"I can't wait until I am big enough to climb in that bed!"
Homemade Beds are the very best
Austin is making this bed just for me
I LOVE IT SO MUCH!
Sometimes...you just have to take a nap wherever you are
Dog toys make excellent pillows
People can use dog beds and
Dogs can use people beds
But the best kind of bed
is one you share with a friend!

Thankfulness - Awesome Vet Day - November 14

We are so very thankful for our awesome vet and the continuing excellent service we receive here at Yesteryear Acres. Having a veterinarian you trust and who cares for your animals as much as you do is such a blessing. Our vet is really the best! Yesterday was our annual vet check up day for all our four-legged bestest buddies.  Every one of our Doggies and our Puppies and our Kitties and our Cats saw the vet. It was terrific hearing all the compliments about our beloved Yesteryear Acres four-legged family members. They really are the best behaved animals and the vet just loves them!
Nutmeg says, "Thank you for listening to my heart doc!"
Petunia says, "Thanks for the nice compliment on my pearly whites!"
Glacier says, "Wake me when the exam is done!"
Mango says, "Amelia....I have to get a shot"
"And it didn't even hurt!"
A good check up for all!
Thank you for our Awesome Vet Day!

Thankful - Puppy Weekend of Tail Wagging Love - November 12

Maple and Mango's puppies went home this weekend and we are so thankful for our loving puppy families. We had tears of joy this weekend and our hearts were full watching the new puppy families meet their FURever best friends. So many smiles, so many puppy tail wags and kisses, so many happy faces! It was a wonderful puppy weekend!
"I am the last puppy to go home"
"I shall patiently wait for my family"
"And .... find them a present!"
"Do you think they will like it?  I picked it out all by myself!"
"THEY ARE HERE?! HURRAY! Goodbye leaf - time for me to meet my new best buddies"
Thank you to all our puppy families this weekend!

Thankful....Veteran's Day...November 11th

I want to take today to express my deepest gratitude and admiration for our Veterans. The sacrifices they make on a daily basis is significant.  What they willingly give up in order to serve and protect our Country is heartbreakingly real. On this day, please give your thanks to those who served and those who continue to serve.  Don't just give thanks in passing, but really truly reflect what it means to be a Veteran.  What lives they led in order to make our lives safe.  What they went without so that we could live with. Thank you Veterans.  Thank you so very much.

Thankfulness Day 10- Marine Corps Birthday

Today we are thankful for the 242nd birthday of the United States Marine Corps.  We are so incredibly lucky to have so many courageous men and women in the Marine Corps that sacrifice many aspects of their lives-including those who make the ultimate sacrifice-to protect and serve our country. We will forever be thankful for everything that they do and what they have already done. I am especially thankful for the Marines that I hold near and dear to my heart, my sister Abigail, my Brother-in-law Ben, and our longtime family friend who is basically my little brother, Greg. Thank you all for being so brave and defending our country. Once a Marine, ALWAYS a Marine...

During deployments

Through marriage

Celebrations of good times

And for everything you do behind the scenes...

Happy Birthday Marines! Rah! We are thankful for you all.

 Stay Safe

Always,

Amelia
