Snow Grits

Grits Double Doodle Puppies had just the very best time playing in the snow today!  It was a winter wonderland of pure fun!
"What is this white stuff?"
"This looks like a nice place to keep my paws warm"
"Hey, Where are you going?"
"This looks like a good place to keep my nose warm"

"Ahhhhhhh, That's perfect!"
"SMOOCH!"
"Yuck! It kissed me!"
"It kissed me too!"
"And gave me a hug"
"Let's get outta here!"

"Snow smells good"
"There is simply so much to do!"
"Snow time is fun time"

"I hope it snows some more tonight!"
"Me too!"
"Know what my name is?"
"Rudolph the White Nosed Puppy"
"Ha ha ha - that's a good one!"
"What do you mean it is time to go in?"
"Alright, just one last potty break"

"and one more snow cone"
"That was tasty!"
Happy Snowy Sunday!

All I Want for Christmas

Mr. Yesteryear Acres dad had to have heart surgery this week.  The procedure seemed to go well but the very next morning when the doctors made the rounds, he was told that he had to have the surgery done again. We were not expecting that at all. We have all been so worried about him and I know for sure our Christmas wish lists have had only one thing on it:
Please Have Mr. Yesteryear Acres Dad Feel Better!!!!!!
Our Christmas Wish List came true! The 2nd surgery was a success!  My son stayed all night at the hospital with his Grandpa to make sure he was okay.  He was there when his Grandpa got the good news that the surgery went well.  Our Christmas just got a lot brighter and Mr. Yesteryear Acres Dad is already feeling much better!!!!  We love him SOOOOOO much and we are SO HAPPY HE IS OKAY!

The Weather Outside Is

Today when I started singing, "The Weather Outside Is Frightful"... Grits Double Doodle puppies said, "NO IT ISN'T!  WE WANT TO PLAY!"  So outside we went and the puppies, as always, had a blast.  Cold?  What cold!  It is delightful!!!!!
"I think frozen leaves are even more wonderful to play with"
"Me too!"

"I found a few tasty snowflakes"
"See? It is delightful out here!"
Going potty like good little puppies

"Good job Doodle Puppies!!!"
"Nothing better than playing with puppies, no matter what the weather brings!"

Worth Getting Up

Mr. Yesteryear Acres is an early riser.  I don't get it.  Why get out of bed before the sun????  Clearly the sun should always go first then after a reasonable amount of time has passed, the morning wake-up may commence.  Well this morning, NOT bright but oh so early, Mr. Yesteryear Acres was awake.  I started my usual routine of rolling over with the covers over my head when Mr. Yesteryear Acres said if I were to get up, we could start building one of our Christmas decorations. He said it in such an irresistible, "Christmas is Coming" kind of way that I actually got out of bed before the sun.  Hopefully Mr. Yesteryear Acres will not read the following statement: "It was worth getting up"  There I said it.  We had the nicest most leisurely morning.  We finished our first Christmas decoration and tomorrow morning......we might work on our second one! Morning coffee, quiet time and a little Christmas project - it was perfect!
Our little Santa Snowglobe
with a secret Christmas door!
Now to start building more additions for our winter village.....but maybe just slightly later than this morning.

Alone Again

Yes. It is true. I have been left alone at Yesteryear Acres once again. Last night my parents returned super late with an SUV full of goodies for humans and doodles alike. I thought that's GREAT! All the shopping has been completed! NOPE. I was wrong. Today my Mom and Dad left around 2:30 to drop off my brother's finicky truck to the truck shop as well as to go to some specialty stores. They have now been gone for hours and hours and hours. My theory is that they liked my cleaning so much they decided to leave me once again since the calendar says "clean downstairs and kitchen cabinets". I am wondering as December progresses if I will spend more and more time cleaning and working by myself rather than with company. I am wondering how many stores could possibly be in our area that requires my parents to be gone for so long. I am wondering if the Doodle doggies are getting tired of my singing and dancing as I dust and vacuum all the rooms. I have pretty much belted out every single holiday song at least five times in the last hour alone. *Points at Doodles* "ALLLLLL I WANNNNT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOOOOOOOOUUUU"!!! Dear parents of mine. Please stop leaving me alone. I don't mind the work, but I think the doodles are getting tired of my "I am lonely" shenanigans. I am wondering if you will in fact be "HOOOME FOR CHIRSTMAAAAAAS"

Faaaalalalalalaaaaaaa PLEASE COME HOME!!!

Will They Return?

Hello! It's Amelia once again bringing you today's blog. We have been working hard on getting everything here at Yesteryear Acres ready for the holiday festivities. We have made lists upon lists upon lists. We have so many things written down that I have started color coding all of our notes (hey what are Program Managers for?! You are welcome Mom and Dad). Our calendar is a beautiful specimen of my color coded genius, everything is mapped out- right down to the meals of the day! We have lots of people in our family and extended honorary Yesteryear Acres family and luckily they are ALL COMING HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS!!! WOOHOO!!! This also means we need an egregious amount of food to sustain them all. You won't even believe how much food the Marines can eat just by themselves. So this afternoon my Mom, Dad, and I diligently wrote out a very very long detailed grocery list - including which store the item needed to be purchased from and the quantity. When I say long list I mean LONG LIST. My parents left approximately around 2:15pm and are still currently gone. I have been doing everything here at Yesteryear Acres to ensure we are still on schedule with our calendar of events. This includes our usual doodle work as well as cleaning the whole upstairs and EVERYTHING. Now that I have been working and cleaning for the last several hours ALL ALONE. I am starting to wonder if this grocery expedition was just a ploy to get out of cleaning the toilets!!! I am really starting to wonder if they will ever return to Yesteryear Acres. I am wondering if I am ever going to be able to go back to my house. I am really really wondering if I will ever get to eat dinner!!! Hopefully they come back soon with a SUV full of food for the holidays. Then this will all be worth it. COME HOME SOON PARENTS OF MINE!!!!

Visions of Sugar Plums

Our newest goldendoodle puppies are here!!!!  Lily is the proud mommy of 10 new Goldendoodle puppies.  This is Lily's very first litter and she is a wonderful mommy.  Her little puppies are always lined up snuggled around her as content and happy as can be.  Lily's tail just wags with pride as if to say, "look at my little sugar plums!"
Our newest little bundle of joy
"Smooch"
They are so tiny when they are born
Everyone knows the bottom of the pile is the best!
Well - the top is pretty nice too!
Cute little Sugar Plums!
Petunia's Goldendoodle Puppies are butterballs in comparison!
Their little eyes haven't opened yet
But they are close!
Snuggle buddies!
They have beautiful blocky heads
So adorable!
Great job Petunia!!!!!
"Don't forget about us!!!!!!"
Grits Double Doodle Puppies are starting to explore the great outdoors
Or perhaps I should say
Grits Double Doodle puppies are exploring how many puppies can fit onto one lap
Four seems good!
Maybe tomorrow we will start more adventures!
Happy Monday

Present Shopping

I love present shopping with Mr. Yesteryear Acres.  He is the most thoughtful gift giver.  He always thinks of just what will bring the biggest smile and he makes waiting for Christmas SO HARD! We have been wrapping more gifts tonight and I cannot wait for Christmas Day! I wish he wouldn't require my wrapping assistance because 1) I am without a doubt the world's WORST wrapper and 2) I am without a doubt the world's WORST secret keeper!  I feel the excitement of giving the present bubbling up and it wants to leave me so very badly!  I want to yell, "OH MY GOSH YOU ARE GETTING A ______!!!!!!!!!"  Instead I have to cover my mouth and leave the room.  Over and over and over again.  Dear Christmas.  Hurry.  Because YOU ARE GETTING A _____!

Fridays are the yummiest days of December

Our December menu calendar is full of delicious wonderfulness.  We have every day planned out with meals like Stuffed Cornish Hens, Standing Rib Roast, Homemade Lasagna (including the noodles), Pot Roast, Pork Roast with Figs, and Lemon Chicken with Orzo just to name a few! Our dinner meals are set. Last December we made the mistake of waiting to make all our favorite dessert dishes until it was almost Christmas. We pretty much baked non-stop right before Christmas Day and then we were faced with too many desserts to possibly eat.  Calamity! This December we are being much smarter.  Every Friday is "Baking Day".  That way we can spread out the Christmas Cookies and Cakes and Candies for the entire holiday.  Our baking list is almost as long as our dinner list!  We need Wedding Cake Cookies and Springerle Cookies and Thumbprint Cookies and Shortbread Cookies and Cut-Out Cookies and and....so many more!  Yesterday started the first Friday baking day. Bri made a delicious loaf of Banana Bread, and today we are finishing up our Caramelitas and homemade toffee.  Everyone knows....Fridays are the yummiest days of December!

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like

One thing you can count on around here is the second the clock strikes 12:00:00am on December First - It is officially Christmas.  Mr. Yesteryear Acres (aka Mr. Claus) starts playing the Christmas music while bringing down the Christmas decorations and begins the Christmas Meal planning right then!  This year Mr. Yesteryear Acres made sure he would win the "Happy December First" proclamation and with that, the festivities began. We already have our 31 dinner meals planned for the month. It is going to be one tasty December!
Of course he didn't stop there. My living room looked like this today

Let the wrapping begin!
This picture was sent to the kids in order to start the Christmas "I cannot wait" torture.  What is it???!!!!!
Mr. Yesteryear Acres is a really good wrapper!

Time for the clean up crew.
We have the best Christmas helpers ever!
