Happy Moving Day
These past few weeks Mr. Yesteryear Acres, my younger daughter and my son have been working non-stop on fixing up my younger daughter's new place. They often leave here super early in the morning and most nights they don't get back to Yesteryear Acres until 2:00am-3:00am. Mr. Yesteryear Acres has been doing the bulk of the work all by himself and I feel like I haven't seen him for weeks. He is running out the door first thing in the morning and he climbs into bed long after I am asleep. I can usually last until 1:00am or so - but then it is lights out. I don't know how he has been able to keep on going, but he has made a commitment to get her place done. Today, finally, after weeks of very hard work, my daughter's place was ready for her! The "Before" and "After" are incredible. It looked so awful before Mr. Yesteryear Acres started working and now it is a show stopper! All the drywall repair and spackling and plumbing and painting..........all worth it! It looks amazing! Time to load up and move out. My daughter is SO excited. She will be a lot closer to her work and the place is beautiful! Happy Moving Day!!!!

Everyone loves a smiling zucchini
Despite what can only be called Dreary and Awful and Monsoon type weather......our garden is flourishing. You would think all the vegetables would have found a pontoon or life raft and sailed away by now! Nope! Our garden is producing delicious heavenly veggies for everyone to enjoy. Some of the plants are so large that there is a slight chance we have some monstrous zucchini.......
Bri decided that this zucchini was too special to be enjoyed by mere humans. She had to do something special and share it with the doodle doggies. Our doodle doggies LOVE zucchini and consider it a delightful treat.
Bri wanted to make sure to make their treat even more special....
Everyone loves a smiling zucchini!

Grits puppies are soooooo sweet! They are doing great with housebreaking and all run with enthusiasm right to us whenever we call them. They are getting cuter and cuter every day!
The puppies had an awesome Puppy Picture Monday
"Puppies Come!"
"I am here!"
"On the way!"
"This grass tickles me"
"What do you want to do now Bri?"
"More pictures!"
"Ready"
"I'm a Teddy Bear Double Doodle!"
"Time to play?"
"Hooray!"
"Playing is WAY better than picture taking!"
Happy Monday!

New Plan
Mr. Yesteryear Acres birthday has come and gone. My son's birthday has come and gone. Last night we didn't sit down until 10:36pm to eat dinner. That is how long we all worked. It didn't feel like much of a birthday celebration but that is how life is here at Yesteryear Acres. Work always comes first. We have a couple of projects we are working on right now so that every spare second we have has been taken up working to get our things done. This morning we came up with a new plan. We will celebrate their birthdays later in August. This means to have a day with a REAL break from work that lasts longer than 12 minutes! Fishing in the pond? You got it! Leisurely breakfast? Done! We will have an actual birthday celebration day complete with cake and ice cream and time to enjoy. Just not today.......back to work!

Happy 19th!!!
Today is my son's birthday and in true Yesteryear Acres spirit.....he spent the day working. He started working the second he got up and will continue working until long after the sun sets. As an incentive to just take a few minutes to enjoy the day, we gave him his birthday present early this morning. It is a camping hammock that can go just about anywhere as it has super long straps that are tree friendly. We got him the deluxe extra long hammock, "perfect size for a friend and a doggie". My son did take an entire 12 minute break to enjoy his special day...
It was the perfect gift for my hard-working boy
If you look closely you can see Olive waiting for her turn!
Hurry Olive! You only have 10 minutes to enjoy!
Happy 19th Birthday to the hardest working, most caring, devoted, thoughtful, funny, smart, makes every day a great day, optimistic, determined son in the whole world. I am so glad you are mine!

Heart Biscuits of Love
My son is always coming up with various enrichment activities for the doggies as he loves thinking of different things to entertain our doodle doggies and puppies. Most of his enrichment activities are outdoor based playtime fun. He loves taking the dogs hiking or swimming or playing a good game of fetch. Today he and Bri decided they would make gourmet treats for the doggies. What's better than homemade Doggie biscuits??
Putting in the secret turkey addition for extra yumminess
He loves our doggies
The handiwork must be inspected by the quality assurance kitten
I heart America!!!!!!
My son likes to share his patriotism with the Doodle doggies!
Finished product. Doggie (and kitten) tested and approved!
Thanks Bri and Austin!

Poor SUV
Today I had to take Bri to the Doctor for her nursing school physical. She needs titers run and proof of immunity to various diseases before school starts. Should be a simple trip right? Wrong! About 15 minutes into our journey, our SUV stopped working. Just like that. Warning lights. No engine. REALLY bad. We were able to coast off the road and get to safety. Thankfully my son was able to come to our rescue and he waited for the tow truck while Bri and I took his truck and hurried to her appointment. Our SUV is in bad shape. We needed a flat bed tow and I don't know when we will get it back! My son was our hero today. He managed to get our SUV towed safely to the car repair place AND get a ride home while Bri and I got her Nursing Physical done. Stressful day but thankfully everyone is safe and we are back home once again.

Can We Keep Him?
Hey everyone, it's Bri. I demanded that I write today's blog because the MOST exciting thing happened. We got a new furry friend for our kitty, Cricket! (A furry friend for all of us as well).
I was so excited the entire ride home. All I could think about was how much Cricket was going to love the newest addition to our family.
He purred while he slept on my lap the whole ride home.
When we finally got him home we all agreed to name him Bali. He has the sweetest face on the planet.
I am always asking if we can keep every furry creature I find and the answer is usually, "No, Bri." This time however, I think Bali won Austin over when he climbed up his back to play. So, I asked, "Can we please please please keep him?" I finally got the answer I always wanted.
"Yes, Bri. We can keep him."
Welcome to Yesteryear Acres, Bali!

Happy Birthday Mr. Yesteryear Acres!
Today is Mr. Yesteryear Acres Birthday! Did we do something super special to celebrate his big day? Nope. Did we have a huge party or a day off from work or a day to do just what he wanted? Nope. Did Mr. Yesteryear Acres work all day long just like he does every single day? Of course he did!!! And the real question is.......Did Mr. Yesteryear Acres have an awesome birthday? YES! This is just one of the million things that makes Mr. Yesteryear Acres the very bestest friend and husband and father and doggie raiser and handyman and fixer of all things in life. He appreciates everything and is always grateful for every day. He is the kind of man that when his wife brings home new furry family members that he wasn't even expecting....he smiles and welcomes the new furry additions. He is the kind of man that when his wife brings home extra "family" members and feeds them and loves them.....he does too. He is the most loving and hardworking man ever and I appreciate all that he is and all that he does. Tonight we had a big home-cooked birthday dinner - Southern Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Collard Greens, Cole Slaw and then for dessert - Fresh from the oven, Cherry Pie. All from scratch and all made with love. Happy Birthday Mr. Yesteryear Acres. I love you with all my heart.

Is this better?
Grits puppies are getting bigger and are now starting to venture outside. Grits LOVES going outside with her puppies. In fact, Grits decided she wanted to help with Puppy Picture Monday.
First Grits had to make sure everyone was all ready for the photo session
"Make sure you get them all Bri"
"Yes Bri! Just like that. Hold the puppies still for the camera"
"Ok! Take the picture!"
Gee - Thanks Grits!
"Maybe I should go to the other side"
"Hahahaha! Our Mommy Grits is the best!"
"Cheese!"
"We are getting good at this!"
"Snuggle Time"
"Summertime fun!"
"Ahhhhh Cool Shade!"
"My turn!"
"Taking pictures is hard work!"
"I think it is time to head back in"
"We need Bri to carry us!"
"Thanks Bri!"
"See you next week!"
"Happy Monday!"

You Missed a Spot
One of the very best things about Doodles is that they don't leave quite as much hair behind as full blooded retrievers. Whenever we brush our golden retrievers, we leave an entire "fur" doggie behind! The Goldens don't mind though.....they love grooming days!
"I shed so many pounds.......in just one day!"
"I love covering Bri in hair!"
"Even if you shed alllllllll over me...........
"I will still love you forever"
Awwww look..... a new doggie!
"Ummmmm Bri? You missed a spot!"
Feels so good!
