Now We Are Ready

Today Truffles Sweet Doodle Puppies and I waited outside in the sunshine for Mr. Yesteryear Acres to come out and help with Puppy Picture Monday.

"Well what should we do while we wait?"

"What do you mean we could try to take pictures without him?"

"We don't know how to do that!"

"I think we need Mr. Yesteryear Acres to help us"

"And give us kisses"

"I have an idea!"

"Let's all crawl on your lap until he gets here!!!!!!"

"Hooray! Mr. Yesteryear Acres made it!"

You Can Put Eggplant In That

Our bountiful harvest of eggplant left me with plenty of room for a creative chef license.  We have had quite the assortment of eggplant dishes for dinner.  Every other day, I try a new dinner menu idea with eggplant and so far, I have not had a single miss! Every dish was delicious! Szechuan Eggplant. Yum!  Thai Roasted Spicy Eggplant. Yum!  Eggplant Parmigiana. Yum!  Breaded Eggplant Slices. Eggplant Rice. Eggplant hummus. Eggplant Ravioli. The list goes on and on.  I think my oven is getting used to the new routine.

Dinner tonight is Meatloaf!!!!  And not just regular meatloaf. Oh no, I simply couldn't make normal meatloaf.  We are having Meatloaf with.......

EGGPLANT!

Yes.  You can put eggplant in that.  Just roast the eggplant, scoop out the insides and throw it in with the bread crumbs.  Next thing you know you will be hearing praises like, "Your meatloaf is amazing!" and "Your meatloaf is so moist and delicious!"  Honestly - just throw eggplant in everything.  That's what I have been doing and so far so good!  After Mr. Yesteryear Acres picked MORE eggplant today, I only have about 3 dozen eggplant to go!  Eggplant Ice Cream anyone?  Just kidding.  Don't put eggplant in that!

Is it Snuggle Time Yet?

Quiet moments around Yesteryear Acres are far and few between. We are on the go all day long and rarely sit down before 10-10:30pm at night.  Today I was outside by 8:42am and didn't come back in until after 6pm.  It is just before 8pm and I am thinking Mr. Yesteryear Acres just might want me to start making some dinner. But first.....

Leaf, Leaf, Leaf, Poop

Remember the game, "Duck, Duck, Duck, Goose"?  Well today I played a different version called, "Leaf, Leaf, Leaf, Poop."  The game goes like this.....
In the dreary cold drizzly rain, go outside to clean up Doodle Doggie Poop and Doodle Puppy Poop.  With all the fallen leaves on the ground, the doodle poop lies in wait.  Camouflaged to perfection. With my handy hoe and shovel I set out in search of the hidden doodle poop.  Is that poop?  Nope - leaf.  How about that one?  Nope - leaf.  How about....oh what did I step on?  A leaf? Nope!  Poop!  Ah the simple joys of Leaf, Leaf, Leaf, Poop.  It is a game for all ages!  Everyone can play!  All together now...

That Was a Good One

There are many ways to enjoy a beautiful Autumn day. The beautiful colors of the leaf tapestry blanketing a forest floor is enough to inspire endless appreciation and gratitude.  I never tire looking at the beauty of Autumn. Evidently I am not alone....

Today I watched Olive enjoy the falling leaves

She just stood there and watched them slowly flutter to the ground 

I felt that with each falling leaf she said, 

"Oh, that was a good one"

I agree Olive.  I agree. 

Puppy Goodies

With Maple's puppies going home this weekend, we have been busy putting together the puppy care packages.  Of course we always have tons of eager help filling.....or rather emptying the care packages! The Doodle Doggies and Doodle Puppies love picking out their favorites!  Here are some of the newest Yesteryear Acres care package additions.....

For Humans Too

Mr. Yesteryear Acres has been certified in Animal First Aid for several years.  He is also certified in Animal CPR.  Today he went to get certified for humans.  That's right HUMAN first aid.  Mr. Yesteryear Acres told the instructor that he knew how to save cats and dogs and figured he might as well add humans to his life-saving repertoire.  Of course, Mr. Yesteryear Acres passed with flying colors and is now ready to assist anyone .... 2-legged or 4-legged with any emergencies that might happen. Thanks Mr. Yesteryear Acres!  We will all be safe and sound because of you.

Tackle!

Today was such a beautiful day outside. Truffles really wanted a little extra time to enjoy the fresh air so we brought her puppies outside so they could watch their mommy play.

"What is this green stuff?" 

"I don't know but I am not going to touch it!" 

"Now what do we do?" 

"I guess we just wait until Mommy Truffles is done playing fetch" 

"Oh she is having so much fun" 

"I can't wait until I am big enough to play" 

"Yay!  She is coming back!"
