Thankfulness Day 9 - Thankful for something we can all agree upon

Even if all the election campaigning and the election result fallout and bickering have you feeling like this....
We can all agree that
This is one adorable beanie baby doodle!!!!
And these puppies
are available for puppy hugs
and puppy kisses
Because no one likes a boastful winner
and no one likes a sore loser
So give yourself a hug
and hug those you love
Take a deep breath
Don't forget your kiss
There.  Don't you feel better?

Thankfulness Day 8 - No Line

As with every election day, I am thankful for my right to vote. Despite the tumultuous and at times horrific campaigning by both sides, the right to vote is something we should never take for granted.  Mr. Yesteryear Acres and I tried to vote early over the weekend but the lines were 2 and 3 hours long. Today there was no such line when we got to the polls. We had a mere 2 people in front of us. Mr. Yesteryear Acres said, "Well at least we can be thankful for the short wait!" Thank you Mr. Yesteryear Acres. With so much negativity surrounding today's election, I needed a reminder of thankfulness for this day.
To the winner of today's election...
Please keep those in our military safe. Provide for them and protect them .... they are family. Please remember that.
Please keep the people of the United States of America safe
Please protect and honor and serve our country with grace and dignity. The American people deserve nothing less.  We put our trust in you.  Please prove us right.

Thankfulness Day 6 - The Comforts of Home

Today, as with every day, I am thankful for the comforts of home.  I am thankful for a big comfy bed to sleep in at night.  I am thankful for water that easily flows from every faucet in the house.  I am thankful for lights in each room that turn on with one flip of a switch. I am thankful for a refrigerator to keep my food cold and fresh. I am thankful for a heater to keep me warm. I am thankful for a pantry full of delicious staples and food to keep our tummies happy.  I am so thankful for the many things in our home that make our life so easy. When I think about how the simple act of getting a glass of water is compared to other parts of the world, I realize how blessed we all are to have so many comforts of home. Right now my older daughter's boyfriend is deployed overseas and I am sure he would love a big comfy bed, lights that turn on, a cold glass of water and a refrigerator full of food. I wish I could share those things with him right now. The comforts of home are gifts to be treasured. It is easy to forget to be thankful for them until they are missing. I am thankful for all the things that make my life so easy and comfortable.  Thankfulness.

Thankfulness Day 5 - Autumn Walks

I love Autumn.  I love the beautiful colors of the trees. I love the crunching leaves underfoot.  I love the cooler temperatures.  It is a wonderful season full of beauty.
Somehow ... I don't know how, I got the hint that an Autumn Walk was on today's schedule.  Olive Doodle was willing to bring a cat along for the walk.
and then we had company
The kittens want to come too!!!!!!
"Psssst Olive, that's too many kitties.  Let's leave them behind!"

"Heh Heh Heh Let's Go!"
"Weeeeeeeeeeeee"
Now that was a great Autumn walk!
Thankfulness

Thankfulness Day 4 - Blog Writing

For the past 6.7 years and counting we have written a blog every day about our life here at Yesteryear Acres. It is a fun way for us to reflect upon our blessings, share our life and love of Doodles and provide a little insight into how we spend our days here at Yesteryear Acres.  I love writing our daily blog and today's thankfulness ..... I am thankful that my daughter Amelia also loves contributing to our blog. I love reading her tail wagging devotion perspective and her blogs fill me with such happiness because it is clear that she loves working with all the Doodle Doggies and Doodle Puppies and kitties and horsies and all our furry best friends. We are so thankful that we are able to spend our days surrounded by lovable, sweet, tail wagging, happy, devoted best buddies.  We hope you enjoy reading our daily blog and love our

Thankfulness Day Three: Rain Gear

Today I am ever so thankful for rain gear. I woke up this morning to a dreary sticky grey Thursday. Let's just say I was NOT extremely motivated to go outside, I was more in the mood for a movie, a blanket, and maybe even a nap. And yet, work needed to be done. I pried myself from my movie fantasies and got ready for work. As I zipped up my raincoat and shoved my feet into my rubber boots, I took a minute to be thankful that I have these items to work in. That I have rain gear that will keep me relatively dry and protected as I work outside. I made note to myself how lucky I was (and not even in a sarcastic way at all) and headed outside into the rain.

It's a bit blustery out!
I was even more thankful that about an hour later the rain had stopped!!

I made it out dry!!! WOHOOO!

Today I am thankful for my rain gear.... and a hint of sunshine among the dark clouds :)

Thankfulness Day Two: Coffee

Today I am thankful for Coffee. Maybe I should say "Today I am EXTRA thankful for Coffee" as I proceed to drink my third cup of the day.... For some reason last night my two cats, Hansel and Gretel, decided that they wanted to recreate a scene from the Aristocats. You know the one where all the cats are banging around and meowing like they are playing instruments and singing.... I mean that's the only thing I can think of that would explain their extra rambunctious behavior. They were running all over me, up and down the bed, under the bed, on top of my dresser, and even places you wouldn't think a cat would be able to walk on, and the whole time they were meowing and hissing at each other. It made the dogs even jump on and off the bed. I think they were trying to get those crazy cats to settle down! SO here I am savoring another steaming hot cup of goodness that makes me less zombie-like and more Amelia-like. And I caught myself thinking THANK GOODNESS FOR COFFEE! The doodles I think agree with me as well. I think they even noticed I needed an extra pick me up or two, that way I could get back to playing fetch with them! Don't worry doodles!! I can feel the coffee starting to work! Today we are all thankful for coffee!

Happy November First!

Each First of November marks the beginning of our month of thankfulness here at Yesteryear Acres. Today I am thankful that I never had to choose to be a dog person or a cat person. I was so lucky to grow up in a place like Yesteryear Acres!! I just love animals so much. Dogs are happy little wagging balls of fluff that like to follow you around and assist you with everything. I love them so much!! I am always so thankful for the doodle doggies when I am feeling sad. They always bring comfort and seem to know what is going on. They also cheer me up when they bring all their favorite sticks and toys and lick my face. Doodle doggies are good at that. They are excellent snack sharers and dishwashers (much to my Mom's dismay) too. I am so thankful for dogs. Cats are crazy little loafs of fuzz. I love how they find everything so fascinating and mesmerizing. I am thankful that they love to sit on me while I sleep and keep me warm at night. I love it when they love you so much they are purring like a jet engine and mine even start to drool a little bit. I am thankful that I have many amazing experiences with dogs and cats and that everyday I feel thankful to have them in my lives. Everyday I am thankful for the smiles and laughs that pour out of me from my doodle and kitty friends!
I am thankful for big kisses - even when trying to take a picture
I am thankful when I look down from my morning coffee and see a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed friend
I am thankful for warm cuddles when watching a movie
I am thankful for summer walks with loved ones
I am thankful for nights when my lap looks like this after a long day of work
I am thankful for them all!

Happy November First!!
