USNA Graduation/Commissioning Day
Today we watched our older daughter walk across the stage and receive her Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from the United States Naval Academy. The Commandant of the United States Marine Corps administered the Oath of Office and with that, our daughter became a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps. His request, "The world is not a nice place and you will be joining me in the fight. Welcome to my Corps- wear the cloth well." My heart filled with pride as did my eyes with tears. We then watched our daughter receive her first salute from Mr. Yesteryear Acres Dad. He was dressed in his dress white uniform and was beyond handsome. To have her Grandpa give her the first salute was so meaningful and in return her grandpa holds the silver dollar she gave him. It is a day we will never forget. Our 2nd Lieutenant. Be ready for pictures, pictures and more pictures when I return home!
